Personal background
Hi. I'm a 29 year old nerd from MI. I like to read about most anything to do with space science. I just built a computer for the first time so I'm starting to churn out these data units. Exciting life eh?
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
My opinions about SETI and SETI@Home... Well, I think there almost MUST be life out there somewhere. Not that I entertain the idea of being the guy who finds the signal. I have absolutely no idea how or when or even if we will discover that there is anything out there if there even is anything out there. Also I have no idea of the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery. Knowing this world, someone would use it as an excuse to kill as many other people as they could. I guess thats a possible Danger. HA! But I almost expect that things like that would happen. Very sad. A benefit would be some satisfaction of my curiosity. I would like to answer yes that we should transmit a beacon but as of late, I more and more think we should try to find a way to hide ourselves from the rest of the universe because I for one am ashamed to be a human these days. Sorry for being so bleak but its true. We suck. And until we stop sucking I would prefer to not show our face in public. But if we did send a signal, plese, someone, let it not have anything to do with religion. That is the root of all evil. HA! (Its true though) I run SETI@Home because its all I can do. I love science but I'm not really a sharp enough tack to be a discoverer professionally so I do this.
