Personal background
Hi there. I'm 43 and a Senior Systems Engineer with an IT company. I live in Cumbernauld, Scotland and when I'm not working, I record music on my PC's at home. I have been a semi-pro musician for a number of years but now limit myself to recording my musings for my own benefit and the dismay of my friends.(lol)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have always considered the question "are we alone" to be one of the most profound and difficult to answer. Not only due to the distances involved, but, and i say this with heavy heart, also down to the way we view things. I suppose the question could be rephrased as "are we alone and how would we live with the answer?" A pessimistic view, I know, but also an honest one. I would like to say, though, that all of us participating in this great endeavour are of a like mind in that we would like to know the answer to both questions. Do I believe that there is something out there? Well let me put it this way: I find it hard to believe that there could not be. The only question is what. We are all now, in our little way, attempting to help find out. I, for one, am proud to be a part of this project and hope I live to see the day when we get our "answer".
