Personal background
This is my second time with SETI; I have come back after a year or so away. I live in Scotland and grew up in a small village called Dollar.
At 52 yrs old and having spent most of my adult life in the Armed Forces as a Flight Simulator Engineer. Now I find myself doing the same job but as a civilian.
Hobbies include Hill walking, wee bit of astronomy and an interest in Hubble and the stars. Also I am very much into my computer and digital photography.
I cannot se how in this vast universe we can be alone.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes I believe that there is extraterrestrial life and I also believe it will be by accident that we discover it. For instance in the search being carried out by SETI and its volunteers. Or by the discovery of one of the many probes from earth exploring distant planets. The dangers are like in anything new, the unknown, the greed, the not taking time to understand. The benefits are knowledge, understanding and technical break through which affect all we do.

2. Yes they should transmit; they should include the good and bad of what is the human race. Then who ever is out there can make there own mind in whether they want to contact us or not.

3. I run SETI at home as I did before because of a feeling of involvement, of trying to understand, and a wonder at the Universe now becoming more available to the ordinary person due to Hubble, SETI and the space program.
