Personal background
HI, I'm Gohan (nickname) from holland. I visit the Murmelliusgymnasium in Alkmaar, Holland and have a sheer passion for alternative energy resources, e.g. wind turbines, solar cells etc. I am presently working on my very first wind turbine, out of plastics, projected to be giving about 18 watts of electricity at most. Well, you've got to start somewhere. I'll update my profile when I'm ready with it. Furthermore, I love sciences in all ways, chemistry as my utmost favourit. But also collecting stones and watching the sky are in my interest, therefore I am going to buy a telescope somewhere next year. Well, nice to fill in my profile, you can respond to fam.nijssen@wanadoo.nl or ssj3gohan@inbox.net.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that extraterrestrial life is possible, but considering the space between possible life-sustaining planets, and the even bigger chance that life on other planets (which will indisputably exist) is not intelligent, I think the chance is too slim to ever pick up a real seti-signal, and communicate in this century. Therefore, until spacetravel is a bit faster, I don't think that setiathome will have asstounding success, HOWEVER this does not mean that the chance is nought. And for that small chance that the third rock from the gravity well WE call 'sun' picks up a signal containing 'we are prepared to give you eternal life and all the money you want', and setiathome of course lets me get eternal life etc., I am prepared to support setiathome with my Pentium 3 900 Mhz. So that one day, my dream..... Ok, now it is getting a bit too poetry-like. Just see mee as the ordinary gymnasium-nerd who thinks he can do something with is outdated computer, knowing that 10 results more or less will never make a difference, however has not got anything else to do. OK? HAPPY? Well, I'm not.
