Personal background
The world of software technical support is a glamorous and rewarding career - we're literally showered with gifts and an inordinate amount of cash for what we do. Truly, it's one of the most prestigious careers a person can pursue...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Is there life outside of our own puny planet?

Are you kidding me? I suppose there is a slim chance that the random coalescence of matter and proteins may not have occurred anywhere else, but let's not kid ourselves...We're certainly not created in the image of some big bearded dude in the sky, that's for sure.

The question of how we discover our neighbors is almost a pointless one to try to guess, though if I had to, I'd put my money on THEM finding US through our various interstellar garbage we throw out there. Heck, maybe they'll show up to issue us a fine for littering!

I suppose a beacon would be the ideal way to try to establish ourselves as a serious new entry in the interstellar community...Though it could attract malevolent beings, such as Vogons...But, if we were to transmit a constant, repeating stream of information for someone to find, I think it should at least contain a few good jokes..

I run Seti mainly because I think it's the best use of my extra cycles...There is no question in my mind that contact with another intelligent, non human eating species, would easily be the single most significant evolutionary step that mankind's had in eons...
