Personal background
I am a multidisciplinarian artist/graphic designer/web designer/film buff/amateur jack of all trades master of none, a lifelong science-fiction and astronomy fan whose hobbies include hiking, travel, my Collie and building computers. I live in eastern rural North Carolina, although I long to return to Alaska, which I consider home. If it weren't for the internet I beleive that I would have slowly gone insane living here.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I beleive that other intelligent races do exist somewhere in this universe, and definitely in others, as there may be other universes. We may NEVER discover other intelligent life, but I hope that we do. I beleive that SETI is our best resouce at this time to find them. However, it may be that intelligence is not a survival factor for life, and sadly, we may be on that course. I beleive, ideally, that when we finally realize that we are one planet, one species, and have one common destiny, that we will then begin the rush into space en masse. Human nature, however, does seem to eclipse this ideal. I still like to think that we (as a species) will rise above ourselves, (no pun intended) and make living in space our near future reality.
