Network manager. Married with one child aged 4. I lead a very busy life both at work and privately.
I've decided to grid my computers at work to use the idle cpu cycles initally to help out on this project. However this project is not long term and we will be moving over to a scientific / medical based project this could be Boinc if and when it is fully working and proven.
Currently we have just over 200 computers working. More are being added weekly.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think Seti at home is good use of spare cpu cycles. I also believe that there are more chances of life outside this planet than most people would give credit for.
The question is , is it intelligent, and would it want to acknowlege contact from a planet which has so many problems with poverty, diesase and war. We would stand a better chance of being heard if we put our own house in order first.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
