Profile: Kevin Horton

Personal background
I was born in 1960 near Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. I spent 16 years as a pilot in the Canadian Armed Forces - the highlight of those years was spending a year in southern France at their test pilot school. The powers that be decided I should stop flying and take desk jobs for a few years, but I had other ideas. I left the military to join Transport Canada as a test pilot based in Ottawa, Ontario. Currently I keep busy by working on an airplane that I'm building in my garage.

I had heard about SETI@Home, but never really thought about joining until I watched the movie Contact with one of my brothers in law. I told him about SETI@Home, and we both signed up.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does extraterrestrial life exist? Well, being a pragmatist, I think the odds are awfully slim that we are alone in this universe, given the number of other worlds. I just hope the ones we run into are more civilised than we are.
