Personal background
I'm 20-something years old, and am budding with astronomically interesting ideas (propagation of gravity waves and Higgs Bosons must be at the top of the list). I enjoy: soccer, reading, J-Pop and J-Anime, new language acquisition, cross-cultural communciation (verbal & non), kayaking, swimming, SCUBA diving, and have only one bad tendency: I DRIVE TOO FAST BECAUSE MY HEAD IS IN THE CLOUDS ^_^.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Although I do believe that we are not 'alone' (otherwise it would be an awful waste of space), I am not quite sure if we will get definitive positive proof from the Arecibo Observatory due to technical limitations. However, I am ecstatic about the prospects that will become available once the new 'field of dreams' is set up and packets of information are distributed for processing! I'm also eagerly awaiting new Central Processing Unit Designs to exploit efficiency which will hopefully bring with them the ability to examine a broader variety of possible other-worldly signals in more detail than what is now feasible.
