Personal background
At the time that I am writing this I am 32. I am a UNIX geek slowly dying (my doctor has given me 60 years, 70 tops) in the Silicon Valley in California. I have lived here all my life. All you other gold-diggers that are taking up my space on the 101 go home. We didn't want you here in the first place, and there are no more dotcoms for you to screw up.

05-Sep-2003... I just re-read this two years later and I still feel the same!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extra-terrestrial life has to exist. It is one of the only bits of faith that I hang on to, above a god (purposely lower case) and humanity.

I fear *when* we do discover ET it will bring about a global apocolypse caused by the unraveling of so many narrow-minded faiths that believe that god and man are all that can exist in the universe. In the end planet Earth will be a galactic version of our current Easter Island or Stonehenge. "There once was a primitive civilization here but apparently they annihilated themselves 3 millenna ago when Goloko shined his interstellar flashlight on their planet."

My only tears shed will be for my kitty, Linus. If the world were only as peaceful as he is when he is sleeping.
