Personal background
I am studying electrical engineering at Aalborg University Esbjerg in Denmark, and have been a SETI@home supporter since I was in highschool. I have always been interested in space and specially the human presence in space. I love to see every rocket be launched for space. And I am really looking forward to see China send people into space in October - hopefully. Then there will be 3 countries in the world able to put astronauts into space. Space is our final frontier, and the human race is not limited to stay on Earth forever. With the birth of humanity - we were destined to expand beyond Earth. Our solar system is empty, there is enought space for everyone - and our technoloy is still very primitive. But out there, other civilizations live, and they have the same idea, maybe the same technology or maybe better.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am a strong believer of intelligent life abroad our world. The universe is so big, it is impossible for us to be alone. I know it is very difficult to find just 'that' signal that proves it! But if we do not searh, we are not going to find anything. It is only a matter of time before we find the evidence. That evidence will have an enormous inflict on the religions of today, and how we see ourself. It will probably be the discovery of the century. I do not think we should send out beacons, because where should we send it? How should we send it? And what should the message contain? We have been sending enougt information out in the universe, since the dawn of radio! An advanced civilization should be able to pick that up.

Why run SETI@home? I am asking why not? Modern computers are so fast, that most computers are wasting energy on nothing. To write an email or a document takes very small quantities of computertime, and takes a long time. In the mean time the computer wastes energy for nothing. Install SETI@home, and the energy can be used usefully.

Many people uses electric energy for heating. Instead of using an electric radiator, they should turn that one of - and turn their computer on instead. Remember a computer is only a sofisticated radiator!
