| Hmmm... Lets see... Well, I'm a 35 year old computer geek from California. I'm currently serving in the U.S. ARMY and Love it! I enjoy all kinds of things from backpacking to soccer to movies/music and yes, computers too! I have to say that my 4 favorite activities are working on my computer, going to the range (firing weapons), martial arts, and whitewater rafting. Taking a close second to those activities are Movies/Music, backpacking, and Rennaisance Faire (when I get the opportunity). |

I'm not sure whether or not life exists out there... There's certainly nothing to say it doesn't, so I guess I'm not against the idea... However, I'm one of those ppl that need a bit of proof before I totally accept an idea, so here I am... doing my part to find evidence. I also think that SETI@home is a brilliant idea, the combined processing power of the system is astounding so it's fun to be a part of that...
I don't think we should set up some sort of beacon for others to find... I think it would be better to find them than them find us... it's an advantage thing... if they find us, we are subject to whatever they deem suitable for us... aka, if they have vastly superior technology, we would be at a serious disadvantage, however, if we found them, it would give us a chance to acertain whether or not contacting them would be advantagous or if it might be detrimental to our very existance.
I'm not really paranoid... it's just that, ok... lets say you're a bird, and you have a nest... so here you are sitting in your nest... all alone.. so you think, "hey, I wonder if there are other birds out there..." so you start chirping at the top of your lungs... A Cat hears the chirping and says to himself, "mmmmm... Dinner!!" then from out of nowhere... POUNCE!! And WHAM, your dinner!! I'd rather see the cat before he sees me... Ya know? |
