Personal background
My Name is Alexander I am a 37 year old college lecturer teaching Information Technology for a local college in Scotland. I have been lecturing for over 12 years.
I have recently returned from New Zealand after commuting back and forward for last 6 years to achieve my residency, a fact for which I am proud to have achieved. I also loved the travelling visiting a new country every time.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have run SETI@home from when it was first developed, I believe it is foolish to assume that we are the only sentient species in the universe and hopefully one day we will discover we are not alone. The ability to belong to a greater goal is also a good selling point for me, I leave the computer on a lot of the time and at least I am hopefully putting it to good use during this time.

The project has come a long way since the early days I like some of the newer projects and when move most of my machines to my girlfriends will definitely be putting them to good use not only looking for ET :) but hopefully solving some problems for hopefully the betterment of mankind.

Hopefully the BOINC project would be more widely advertised, the amount of students that haven’t heard of it is far to many for what I perceive as a vital tool. And now that one of the last stumbling blocks the Internet access has been removed there should be a push to introduce this not only to Science Geeks but to normal home users.
