Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
do i think E.T. exists? ofcourse they do. somehow somewhere theres always doing to be some type of germ or microbe that will eventually evolve into a larger life form. happend with life on earth so its gotts happen somewhere else. just look at the rock samples from mars. those things had fossilized bacteria which im pretty sure means there was life on mars at one point or another. maybe what happend to the dinosaurs happend to them.. good possibility. But ET is out there and i hope we make contact with them before im gone.
when and how humans will discover E.T.? maybe we wont. maybe theyll come to us like people say theyve been seing in the skies for billions of years.. maybe theyll finally decide to land. which so far theyve been reluctant to do so if thats really them up there.
possible dangers?.. theres always a danger when meeting a new species. if we would have never seen a crocodile would you walk up to it to see what it does?. i sure as hell wouldnt.
should we transmit? hell yes!. we need to know whos out there. its in our nature to learn. but what exactly are they getting?. many of our movies, radio shows, etc.. depict humans as war loving people. many also have us killing the aliens. so for someone to tune into that and hear these types of things im sure it would scare them off or decide to come screw with us a bit..
i use seti@home basically to try and find out whats going on out there. i think the project is an awsome idea and hope it doesnt stop. im sure the government can dish out money if they have to. why spend a couple million dollars on making hangars when theres life to discover?
one suggestion which i would love to see implemented into the program is the ability to hear the sounds. im not sure if seti@home is able to implement this cause im sure theres alot of things that would need to be done in order to do this. but that would be a great addition.
