Profile: Klondike

Personal background
My name is Theron Ray Schultz

I live in Houston, Texas, USA. I am 55 years old.
I am unemployed.

I always wanted to tell somebody
I am an unemployed Crpto Zoologist.
Then they would ask, “What is a Crpto Zoologist?”
I would say “That is someone who studies extent animals.”
Then they would say “Extent, that might be the reason you are unemployed.”

I am not a Crpto Zoologist.

I like to mess around with operating systems.
I have tried every version of Windows that I could get my hands on. I have also tried BeOS and FreeBSD.
I have loaded a dozen versions of Linux.
Right now my favorite is Debian.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I don’t know what I think about extraterrestrial life. I think it is possible, given the numbers involved.

But given the size of the Universe we may never find any life for hundreds of years even if it does exist.

Beacon, we don’t need no stinking Beacon.
We are emitting such a wide range of waves that if someone out there were looking we would be found.

I run SETI@home in order to give my computers something to do when idle.
I think the community aspect of the project is one of its stronger points.

Maybe a small side project could be devised where some number of members could run an alternitive client in order to solve the small side problem and then they could return to the primary client.
