Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
People tend to think their the center of all things, as their grew up they learned things aren’t always what they seem. The earth is not flat, the sun doesn't revolve around the sun and the sun is not the center of the universe. Now they know our star is just average, our galaxy isn't very remarkable. The only hope people have left to give them the idea of being the best is stating "WE ARE ALONE, WE ARE UNIQUE", maybe we are, I want to know.

If SETI finds other life in the universe (and I think they will) this could mean a big change in the way we see ourselves, all people on earth would be 'us' the extraterrestrial would be 'them'. Black people, yellow people, small people, man women and children, they all would be 'us'. And maybe we would treat them as equals…
