Profile: Talynhal

Personal background
I am living in Port Washington, WI in the US. I work as a Line Cook at a local restaurant. I have always been fascinated by the probability of life beyond our solar system.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
After a childhood of Star Trek and other Sci Fi, the possibilities of contact and the hope for the positive implications of that contact frame the foremost of reasons for my participation. I am a humanist. I have a deep and unrestricted optimism about the future of our species. We are adaptable. It has been the hallmark of humanity that has led to our dominance over Earth. We are just now learning to temper our ambition and darker desires. I feel that we are on the cusp of a major evolution in our societies. Contact with another extrasolar civilization could be that final catalyst we need to move to the next level of social evolution.

If we do succeed, I will be proud to have contributed. If we do not succeed, I will still be proud of the effort.
In trying, we are all striving. That in itself is a reason to continue.
