Profile: Stargazer

Personal background
Hello my name is Jimmy, Stargazer is what I love to do! I'm a thirty year old software developer in the wonderful world of the IT industry in Canada. My background encompasses GUI and database development, and communication protocols. And not to mention a super cook…Just ask my wife. :-) All of my life since I was five...was always amazed and interested in science, astronomy, space exploration...All that kind of stuff! Yes!...I’m a Star Trek fan. :-)
I have been with SETI since 1999, and feel great that I'm adding my contribution to the "Search". I’m currently running from home a 1GB AMD Thunderbird server with 128MB RAM, and also a “little” Pentium 133 with 48MB RAM. It might be small, but it’s a tough little computer...It does the job.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I sincerely believe that life in our galaxy exists. I also believe that if are to evolve as a species on Earth...we need to know that we are not alone. Many are quite content with the status quo of out planetary society, however we cannot keep our head buried in the sand. Just as once we believed that the Earth was flat and the Sun was not the center of our solar system, we need to expand our knowledge of the universe, we need to expand our understanding of who “we” are, and we need to continue the “Search”!
I feel that SETI by far, is giving one of the most important contributions to science, space exploration, and a better understanding of “ourselves”.
