Personal background
I'm 20 years old and studying physics in Wroclaw, Poland. My scientific interests are Image Processing/Analysis and Quantum Chemistry. In my free time I like to do some programming or music (singing, piano, composing).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? If so, when and how will humans discover it? What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?
The answer to this question depends on how we define life itself. If we seek, generally speaking, any self-repreducable process, then I'm convinced it's out there. However, for us to find it by such initiatives as Seti@home, other constraints also need to be met. Assuming that the course of evolution is deterministic, the chances of "bumping" into another smart life form is certinly not zero.
If Seti@home happens to register the signals it so much seeks, it's still going to be quite far from any "contact" with the senders of those.

2. Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? If so, what information should we send?
I don't see any reason why it should'nt be sent - it takes so little effort. The information included should be as easilt understandable as possible.

3. Why do you run SETI@home? What are your views about the project? Any suggestions?
Generally, I would feel ashamed to see so much CPU time go wasted. I doubt if any really significant signals will be detected in the long run. However, there's always that little voice inside, asking me: what if? So why not?
