Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As a fan of sci-fi I've read so many stories about meeting extraterrestrial intelligence and what could happen when that day, who knows it could be something like the description given by Carl Segan in Contact or a catastrophe like in Independence Day. Whatever happens I think it will happen, we're not alone(!) when we don't expect it. Benefits and dangers, good point of view, but I don't think it will make any difference, it will depend on our reaction to this new discovery. From my point of view this project is not only a way to help science, but it's also the beginning of a new idea of society; people that don't know each other, but that work together for a specific purpose: the WWW (World Wide Web) should be always like this.
