A mystic with a strong metaphysical background, I believe however that even mysticism and metaphysics benefit from good science. Seti@home is a powerful example of what people can accomplish when they set aside their differences and combine their efforts toward a common goal. I am a member of the Planetary Society and support the goals of Seti@home. I encourage others to financially support this project either through the Planetary Society or directly.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am certain that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe. It is only a matter of time before we demonstrate this as verifiable scientific fact. While I never felt very strongly that the current Seti@home project would find proof of other intelligent life, I do feel that it is an essential major step toward that goal. I am very excited about the future of SETI, and especially the new BOINC project and the examination of the Southern Hemisphere. It is there that we will make great discoveries.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
