Personal background
My name is Jason.

I'm from Dallas, Texas.

I'm 32 years old.

I presently have no paying occupation though I tend to bounce back and forth between network security/administration and bartending - depending on whether or not I'm having an early mid-life crisis.

I have many hobbies. I love media: movies, books and music, but lately I've been indulging in old-time radio programs. X-Minus one, Sherlock Holmes, CBS Mystery Theater, good stuff like that. I like to go camping, I collect knives (throwing knives, mostly) and swords. I'm into archery, but I don't practice enough to be any good at it. I dabble in aquariums and plants though sadly I don't have enough room right now for my 75 gallon tank and am having to be satisfied with a little 10 gallon tank and little fish. I like precision machinery - performance cars, high fidelity stereo equipment, computers. There are many other things I occupy my time with, but my favorite activity is spending time with my girlfriend, drinking and hanging out.

That's all I have for now. Perhaps there will be more later.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI because I think the idea of distributed computing is a wonderful way to tackle data crunching on a large scale. I like watching the graphic representation as the program runs and because, well, finding aliens could be fun. Could be extremely perilous, but could be fun. Fun and peril usually come as a package deal anyway.

I occasionally have some suggestions for the project, usually when I get frustrated with the interface, but seeing as it's all being switched over at the moment, I'll wait and see what the capable people running the project come up with before I go potentially putting my foot in my mouth.
