Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
ET has to be out there, if not, it seems like an alful waste of space... i heard that somewhere before, possibly from the movie "contact". It human nature to try to explore to find ET. To do so other wise would be suicidal. I believe this because i believe that humans are destorying the planet and we will probably never learn or desire to fix it until it is too late. I am not an environmentalist, i drive a car and use my share of products that are not good for the environment, but i am also a realist. I realize that my daily lifestyle is not good for the planet and the lifestyle of billions of other is probably equal to me or worse. I started running setiathome because i thought i was a great and unique idea and i felt i would support it just for its unique programming.. after using it for a while now i realize that it will probably never find ET, but what do i have to lose, it isnt like my screensaver of windows or stars or curves flying across my screen was ever going to do anything useful.
