Profile: Mantiss

Personal background
Children of '69. Live listening to heavy metal (New Wave of Swedish Death Metal) mainly, but I also indulge in classical compositions and Jazz. Amateur astronomer since I was 7, hooked on cosmology. Traded my time at the eyepiece for some time behind the axe making noise *s* The two go well together.

Working as as Siebel Integrator for a big consultant company, loves the challenge of clusters frying up or applications behaving erracically, I shine best under pressure and when trouble hits *s*

Proud father of two lovely kids, I will make sure they follow my drive for all things astronomy, as for music, well... =P
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
There is definitely E.T. life out there, the big brunt of it is uni/multicellular. There has to be some kind of advanced life, hopefully in the galactic area, but the universe is a harsh and violent place, that is why life is so precious. The drive to discover will always be there!

Would love to take part of what could be the discovery of the millenia. It has such profund implications socially, morally, etc. that we will face it I am sure with the best of our minds and ideas, with openness and curiosity =)
