Profile: The Chookman

Personal background
My name is is Vivian Carstairs, I am a retired truck driver living in a small village near Lincoln, and am new to the SETI project. Although my current computer is running Windows 10 I do have another older computer running Linux and if I can resurrect it then it will be dedicated to SETI using my broadband network.
I am a 70 years old divorced male and have no desire to go down that road again, I figure that two marriages and two divorces are definitely telling me something.
Although I was born in England I have a connection with Scotland through my paternal grandparents. My grandmother came from Dundee, but I'm not sure about my grandfather, although they did marry in Dundee before moving south. This gives me the perfect excuse for wearing the kilt when my spinal problems act up as it's easier to wear than trousers or jeans, but it does puzzle my 93 yr old mother who thinks it's a skirt! (I blame the Alzheimers)
I am a supporter of the British Hen Welfare Trust and now have 4 rescued ex-battery hens who provide a steady supply of eggs and endless company and amusement, but recently gave up my voluntary post of Tenant Representative at North Kesteven District Council where I was part of a team working on all matters pertaining to Local Authority Housing and Housing Law. My leaving was, unfortunately, due to health problems associated with getting older (very frustrating!)
I recently decided to find a new hobby and decided to go back to my youth (the Dark Ages according to my grand-children) and start building and flying Radio Control model aircraft, so, combining my interest in chooks and models, I'm now thinking about a Radio Controlled flying chicken, especially after seeing a news item about a guy who turned his mummified cat into a quad copter, how weird is that? I bet that puts the wind up the local pigeons!
