Heya everyone. . .
Well, im Daz, (Daren) from Nottingham, England, UK. I am 44 years old. Easy kind of chap with a greater affinity towards and for animals and the stars than i have patience for most people . ( That is of course without trying to make myself sound unsociable, on the contrary, i just enjoy the peace and quiet of my own company and thoughts, being outside with the LX200 gazing towards the stars, contemplating my own existence, life on earth & wondering, what if, when, why, how..when, when WHEN will it happen, and alternate forms of intelligent life makes themselves known to us) or if not actively making themselves known to us, when will we discover what anyone with the slightest fractional percentage of intelligence all ready knows is out their, gazing down at us every time we look to the skies..
Hence why i am here on SETI@Home. . . Just to be a contributing member of this which i believe is the greatest quest we as a species have yet undertaken yet in our brief thus far and violent history is a great honour. . . . I genuinely believe that the discovery of ET albeit in what ever form they come in, will be exactly what is required for the human species to finally get a GRIP on our genuine place in the universe, and will ultimately give us the mind-set of and to better our species and ourselves. . That is for those of us who are not all ready seemingly enlightened in our way of thinking at least.

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I run SETI@home because as I mentioned above. . . I personally feel that it is the greatest undertaking, leading inevitably to the greatest discovery that will ever be of our species... When we finally discover them or they choose to make themselves known to us all.
I feel it is a very long way off though, as personally, I think that any race of being with the capability to make contact over such huge distances will by there very nature and evolved time be either predatorial by nature, or the exact opposite. . Seekers of knowledge and truth. Either way I think will have a more evolved sensibility than us, by that I mean humankind. .
We would appear to be a juvenile, war mongering, race with little respect for other beings when we don't respect our own species or even look after our own planet, home. . So why would we appear to them (ET/any alien civilisation) as a race, a trustworthy race to make contact with.
Hence why I feel that discovery will be made by USand not initiated by them.
Our species has not evolved mentally enough yet. . We are still embryonic in the time scale of it all. . We would appear caveman-like, childish in comparison. We are not ready yet.
BUT I LIVE IN HOPE....
