| I am from Greece, currently 38 years old. My profession is Sociology with regards to Social Philosophy. I still hope to the creation of the scientific field of Extraterrestrial Sociology. My occupation is currently that of a peach farmer. Human's gotta eat and science provides little or no food budget. My hobbies are video games on PC and PS3, reading books, infotainment in general, driving around, swimming, trekking, and mentioned last due to grand theft moto, motorcycling. I love motorcycles, especially Japanese 4cylinder-in line screamers. Had a 2006' Blade and was stolen so this hobby is on hold for 3 years now. Also, i like to talk about myself, a lot. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

Seti@home is human kind's best effort to communicate with the Universe. I contribute because i have an impatient temper and i wish to know whether we're alone or not, before i die.
The project itself is as effective as it can be, with the current publicity standards.
Suggestions:
We could start collecting any old computers and setting them up in line for processing, rather that recycling them for materials. This way we could expand the time between recycling perfectly good CPUs just because they are slow. It would also improve the overall computing power to a serious percentage. Maybe start data processing caches all over the world, using outdated computers. Data mining.
**To the users/contributors: Don't ever, EVER set your computing settings, cpu usage or cpu time to 100%. I did and it burned my CPU in 2 months time. And i mean literally burned it. I'm talking about an unlocked 4GHz 8core AMD FX Black Edition. Burned half its cores, a few milliseconds before it burned a hole on the motherboard. Thanks to the guarantee, it set me back only a few euros and 2 months time. Currently, i've set it to 60% computing and works fine, after i've put a water cooling system. There should be a warning from SETI, though. |
