Profile: The Saint (LDS) - Retired

Personal background
I'm a 26 year old engineer from Alberta, Canada. I'm an ecclectic blend of old (I love history and being a living history interpreter) and new (very much into computers and high-tech).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I remeber coming across Seti@Home in a little article in a magazine. It wasn't a very big article, but it stuck in my mind, so I thought I'd try it out...as it turns out, I was addicted from the start.

I run Seti@Home several reasons. Firstly, for the science. This is an important question that if we find something, it could unify this planet like nothing else in our history. Secondly, because it lets me work on my computer to find new ways to optimize and mazimize its performance. Third, there is a great social aspect that comes when you find a good group of people to crunch with, like SkzDaLimit (shameless group plug :) ).

My personal views: I think there is life on other worlds. The level of intelligence is the subject of great debate, but it wouldn't surprise me to find out that there are both those more advanced than us and those behind us. As for transmitting a signal ourselves...Well, MTV wouldn't be my first choice, but we're already sending.
