Profile: Pete Davies

Personal background
Hey!

My name is Peter. I am a 25 year old student, dad, techy and musician.
I am currently studying computer systems engineering and network security, I also play guitar and sing (started on piano at age 4), performing at bars, restaurants, festivals and other venues.

I've enjoyed science and space since before I can remember, and have always dreamed that I would witness the discovery of extra terrestrial life in my lifetime (among other things!).
One of my biggest idols now would be the late Carl Sagan, whose TV series Cosmos: A personal voyage inspired me to joining SETI@home. (We also share the same birthday which I think is pretty cool!)

I am absolutely stoked to be contributing (albeit a small contribution) and hope to make new friends with similar interests :)

Thanks for reading!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home as I believe that the discovery of ET life will be one of the most important discoveries humankind will ever make. Though we may not see it in our lifetime, I believe the more we search and contribute, the closer we get to actually discovering something.

If I had any suggestions, would be to offer a premium SETI@home service, where users like myself could pay a subscription and can receive a monthly newsletter and perhaps other club perks. I think it'd be a convenient way to keep us 'casual contributors' in the loop, and a great way to raise money to support SETI.
