Personal background
Hi all!

This account was created because I wanted to make use of some of the older hardware just taking up space in my garage. My other account name is "AlanSerl" and I have been on SETI@home for a little more than three years. It's only been the last month or so that I've really gotten into SETI. Having the Windoze screen saver client was not helping my time per WU so I've gone to the command line version - Then loaded it on all of my other work stations too.

The two PC's on the top of my "RaT Stack" are retired '486/66 systems that had long useful lifes as Linux DNS servers. The two towers are both Pentium systems (P166). All four have 32MB of RAM and are running the LRP Linux SETI clients from boot disks. No hard drives. There is a small UPS on the right of the picture that helps keep the systems up in spite of California Edison.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home in the hope that someday we may be able to make out an intelligible signal from some ancient civilization that will confirm that again, life crawls out of the crevaces of the Universe. I'm very glad to a part of that effort. I only hope the signal we receive isn't "42" - Thanks Douglas Adams!
