Profile: Paul Davis

Personal background
Born in 59, married to Vickie with one cat & 20 budgies. Supervisor in a large Riverland winery. Enjoy motorbikes, music, wine & food (at times too much). Running an 1.3G AMD/Win XP Pro system and several other lesser machines. Can't think of much else. Love modern technology, (Vickie has an Implanted Defibrillator, so she does too) and like to have the latest gizmos if possible. Update at April 03, 2002. one cat & zero budgies. We have moved to the Barossa Valley and I am now the Cellar Manager of Richmond Grove Winery. Still eating & drinking to excess, and loving it!!!.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I like to think that an et is out there somewhere. No idea how or when we will meet or discover it. Benefits and dangers of this are about the same as finding new bacteria.

2. No beacon would work. Current transmission of radio & tv while perhaps of lower power would surely confuse or misrepresent our planet and species.

3. Good and well intending project. I run it because its not a boring screensaver and would like to contribute to what will (if and when a discovery is made)be hugely important. Also, by helping, I hope the discovery happens before I die. No suggestions.
