Lunatics Basic Questions
(Message 1230683)

Post: Thanks guys! I'm going to give Lunatics a whirl! @Wembley I don't see version 7.0.27, only 7.0.25. Where would I find it? Is it Beta or something? |

Lunatics Basic Questions
(Message 1230650)
Posted 11 May 2012 by MichaelMac
Post: Ok, I'm looking at possibly using Lunatics, but had a few questions. I couldn't find the answer to these questions anywhere, but it may be because they are so fundamental that they may be assumed. 1. Lunatics only helps with SETI tasks? 2. Can I run it on a computer that is running another project in addition to SETI? (It won't screw up the other project?) 3. Will it speed up CPU tasks or just GPU tasks? 4. Any other "gotchas" I should look out for? I'm running BOINC 7.0.25. I've read the readme file. I've run CPU-ID and know the instruction sets for each of my computer's CPUs. I've downloaded the proper Lunatics install file (Windows XP, 32 bit) version 0.40. Thanks for your help! -MichaelMac |

Add-On Software Suggestions
(Message 1227346)
Posted 4 May 2012 by MichaelMac
Post: Thanks for your replies. I'll check these out. I suppose that I should have provided a little more information. My rigs are all Windows XP and 2000 Server and 2003 Server. I'm running SETI@home, Einstein, Milkyway, and Test4Theory (LHC) projects. I'm using BOINC 7.0.25. All my computers are on my network (part of it is via VPN to another location). I do use the BOINC account manager, but it only handles the one PC. I want to be able to see all computers and all my projects without having to log into each website for each project to check on the computers and tasks (I'm not just interested in checking my credits). Thanks! -MichaelMac |

Add-On Software Suggestions
(Message 1227231)
Posted 4 May 2012 by MichaelMac
Post: I realize that this may have been covered ad nauseum, so if someone would just point me in the right direction (link or doc or whatever), I'd be glad to take it from there, and do whatever research/reading necessary. I'm looking at the Add-On software, and I'm trying to decide what to use, or at least, what to avoid (what may be unstable). It may be a matter of personal preference, and I can deal with that too. I'm looking for software to help me: 1. Easily monitor my various projects, computers, tasks, and stats. 2. Something to notify me if there is a problem with one of my rigs or a project on that rig. I might come up with something myself, but wanted to see if there was already something out there. Basically to help me manage my "stuff". Thanks for your help and any info! -MichaelMac |

Resource Share Setting
(Message 1226782)
Posted 3 May 2012 by MichaelMac
Post: Can I set the resource share for a project for a particular computer only? Everything is running fine on all my computers, but on 6570344, I'm running both SETI and Einstein. The computer has no GPU but is quad core. In my tasks, I'm seeing SETI running just one (Astropulse) with a ridiculously long run time (which I understand is normal) and Einstein is running 3 processes. I'd like to balance things out a bit and have SETI run two and Einstein run two. My first thought was changing the resource share but it looks like I can only do that for the project (across all my cmputers), and I don't want to do that. Any ideas/help would be appreciated by this new guy. Thanks! |

Video Card Upgrade
(Message 1207965)
Posted 19 Mar 2012 by MichaelMac
Post: If I'm running BOINC, and then I upgrade my video card, will it detect the new video card in my computer? Or do I need to do something to have it check the computer again (benchmarks). Thanks! |
