Post: So AMD can manage to very seriously compete with Intel who have their own fabs, yet can't compete with Nvidia who don't? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense ATM... Certainly not making them look good. (Meaning, all the hard work they put in to compete against Intel -and pull off a miracle- is kinda getting cancelled out with Navi pricing). |

I always feel relieved when I stick my neck out and say something/anything that is my own opinion with zero mainstream support and eventually have someone I trust come out and say the same thing! My OCDs would never let me have 3 different-looking monitors side-by-side :P But yeah, at those resolutions and refresh rates and the brand spanking new games you're playing it DOES make sense to be looking at the top of the (GPU) line :) (Meanwhile, I'm trying to get through Mass Effect 3) PS. YouTubers seem to really like the new ultrawides. Might be something to consider if you haven't already. |

Post: For gaming, it totally depends on your monitor. If you are talking 1080p I'd buy something a lot cheaper right now. AMD: 570 or 580 for peanuts, or maybe wait for Navi. Nvidia: I wouldn't bother with the 2060 personally. One of the 1660s would be better value for money. But that's 1080p. What resolution, refresh rate? And which games? |

Clean 'em up and re-apply thermal paste. If you can't be bothered and only want to crunch on them try a ghetto fix: Tumble them over on their sides (like you would if you spilled water on them). That should keep them cool enough to not shut down. Save space and money :P (I wouldn't throw good money at this problem) |

Post: It's sad my two Lenovo Y560 laptops have fans at the far left edge and finding raised cooling pads with fans able to reach the cpu vent to actually blow cool air into it is nearly impossible for the price I want to pay. Have you tried undervolting? It did make a difference on my HP Pavilion but I've also stuck higher rubber "feet" underneath. |

But I'm going to guess Navi will have a really tough time competing with the 1660 Ti at these prices and power consumptions... Wonder how long Nvidia is gonna wait to make the transition to 7nm. |

If you re-read what I wrote you will see I technically "never said you did". I was just setting up a question which you ignored for some reason. You implied Hillary would have been better at a few things... but since I'm pretty sure Obama "built" those cages (and even if he didn't, he deported a record number of people) my brain had trail of thoughts... Either Trump had a magic flute and the mice spontaneously followed him mesmerized like a cult leader... Or Obama did a bad job and America voted for a lunatic on the off chance he really would make America great again. But it was Obama that was supposed to make America great again. He didn't. So we get Trump. Yet Obama was a nice guy. Hillary a grade-A narcissist. So I'll ask again: If an Obama presidency can deliver a Trump presidency... what would a Hillary presidency deliver? |
