climate change is something where scientists can't give a evidence that it's happening.

some faction of science is on a crusade to convnce the world that climate is changing due to human intervention, however there is no tangible evidence that it's the thruth.

Earth showed the opposite several ways, with the coldest winters ever, and with well demarcated seasons.

The common mortal needs evidence, not fairy tales.

Here we are, like all humans finding someone or something to blame. When we can’t point the finger to someone for the events that occurred in our lives we point the finger to fortune or to destiny.

No man is an island (Very déjà vú stament) but we are responsible for our actions and like in physics, for every action there is a reaction.
We are social and emotional animals and not only logic or rational like “Spock” or the “Vulcan”" from Star trek

My point, is there is no one to blame, life is what it is, a succession of events based on our and others actions or in another word inter-action.
From a society point of view, mankind loves to put labels and to measure success. On happiness it seems that we label ourselves as rich, middle class, poor, miserable and Dull :D .

Happiness it seems that is measured by the amount of money and assets that people are able o achieve trough life.

Well, for me happiness is a state of mind, it has nothing to do with money or possetions, it’s an emotion and a very particular feeling.
Who is to blame? No one, not even ourselves.

Is like the Asterix and Obelix comics, where they used the say that they where only afraid that one day the sky would fall on their heads.

I know that one day it will happen, it occurred in siberia last century, imagine if it was in the current days over NY, Beijing, Tokyo, Paris, Berlin, Sao Paulo or any other big city?

It just shows that mankind is still not prepared to protect themself from such events, that can lead to their extinction.

Dinosaurs died from it, one day it will be our turn.

No one has pointed out yet that the United States, strictly speaking, is not a Democracy. It is a democratic republic. When a law gets passed, say banning prostitution, whether I agree with the law or not I am obliged to obey that law or risk paying the consequences. We all can't just go out and do what we want as that would be anarchy.

Another example would be laws banning the sale of alcoholic beverages on Sunday. Whether or not you are a Christian who believes in such bans you must either obey the law or pay the penalty if caught.

Some laws are passed that are not necessarily supported by the majority. Unfortunately most of those that we elect to represent us at the state and federal level don't feel obligated to follow the wishes of those who voted him or her into office.

Is the same in my country, does not matter you religion, believes or any other thing, you have to obey the law, and some I must say from a human point of view are quite idiotic. Why Hypermarkets can not open on sunday? because Portugal is a catholic country and as per the bible God rested on the sevent day or it's to protct mom's and pap's litle business?

This is endless question, and polticians are joker's the bad thing about them is that they joke with other's poeple's lives.

Socialism for Americans is where the government provides for all regardless of their efforts or inputs.

For an european like me that sounds like comunism in old USSR.

For me socialism, i like being a democrat in the US, or a member of the labour party in the UK.

But is interesting how thoughts can be different in the other side of the pond.

Still I strongly believe that in some research projects the cost is so High and the short run benefits are so litle that only the government can back it up.

I'm curious about what is your notion of socialism.

China is sponsoring exploration and as per US standards is a socialist state.

I always wanted to know what is the notion of socialism for a US citizen, it seems like something bad, awfull like socialists will eat childreen at breakfast.

Since we are too poor to fund space endeavors and too broke, too politically correct and beat up to pursue wars we will find out that technological development may be slowed or the next new technology may not be forthcoming at all.

Mankind is on a crossroad. Technologic revolution that has started during the industrial revolution is coming to an end. Mankind needs new forms of energy to feed their hunger for energy and knowledge. Today research is fundamental for mankind to be able to give another lap forward; money will not be an issue if politicians understand the turning point where we stand, instead of thinking only at 4-5 years at the time. Now vision is needed.

If America and Europe don’t want to lose their position of leaders in terms of research then now is the time to increase the funds on research, not to cut like Obama is doing with NASA.

To let NASA fall is a mistake that will have a great cost in future generations not only of Americans but also in Europe.

Sometimes I wish that the Iron curtain would still exist as it seems that America and Europe are not capable to be leaders in a world where there is any competition anymore.

Big corporations will only fund the research that think that will bring any profits on the short and medium term, and certain fields are not interesting for the corporations like the investigation of space.

However they forget one thing, from Space and military research came a lot of patents a lot of inventions that today we are using in our current lives.

God/ALA/JEOVA or other name you want to give it, is a question of faith.

Many of you, don't believe in it, as there is no scientific ot historical evidence of his/it existence.

I undertand that, and I don't want to change your believes, in fact the importance is like I said: NONE

We are all humans, and I can state, humans with heart, feelings, and interests with more or less passion regarding the sorrounding universe.

from my personal experience, I believe in God/superior conscience, something very different from the holly books, bible, coran, Tora, whatever.....

I could share my experiences, but is something that there is always an rational explanation for what happened.

My message is very simple, as humans, we are all equal. if you want and example, stupidity is universal, does not have race or religion.... :D

But no matter if its science, religion, or some other thing, the message is simple:

"There is always room for improvement in fact is the largest room in our house"

PS:
Personnal thought: I think the pope and lot of people that sourround him at the vatican, are assholes (polite way to call them). Vatican is one of the richest states in the world and what they say to the poor... Pray to God.... (give me a break) Not the message of the new testament/jesus....(He existed, as his Law process was recorded by the romans. Pilatus, washed is hands at it was a local issue.)

Igreja comes from the latin Iglesia that means assembly/gathering of people.... Does not have anything to do with statues of gold or marble halls.

At the end we are all dust, star dust....

To believe or not to believe is a matter of faith and personnal experience.

My father always told me never to discuss 2 topics,

Religion

and Soccer/Sports

There are non believers here as they are believers like me, so what's the importance of it?

None, we are still good people who discuss and change ideas. However is useless effort to try to convert a non beliver or vice versa.

we are what we are, we believe in what we believem but at the end we are only dust.

The pope is just a man, you can agree or disagree with him, in my opinion the vatican ideas about certain things are a paradox and it seems that about certain subjects catolic church stopped in time.

Jesus, well, he was a man also, about being the son of God, or the Mesiah, it's a question of faith.

Anyway one thing is certain about Jesus, he was so important in mankind that calendar was split between AC and BC.

It does not matter if this decision was taken by man, because it was, but today this division is still valid.

Jesus showed mankind one thing, that humans should improve themselves and before looking to other imperfections to critisize they should look to themselves. He also showed that no matter if you are a king, a peasent, or even the son of God, we are all mortals, we born, we live and we die the same way.

At this moment and until proven otherwise we only have one life, so use it wisely and use it in benefit of others. It can look silly, but if you make 3 people smile everyday for sure you will be happy.

God and the Devil are the same thing as they are two faces of the same coin.

We live in a world od duality, day/night, Love/hate, Life/death.

The bible is just another book written by man, some of the things there are good messages, others well we can argue here until the end of times.

For me GOD as a place in the creation of the universe, not this one, but all universes, as per the new theories of cosmology, it seems that there are a endless number of universes.

Also we live in a world, or universe where are different levels of consience, and ever single person in the world has it's own version of reality.

More important, than the message in all holy books of the world, or if there is life beyond death, if we are going to reeincarnate,or if our immortal soul has the weight of 21gr. Is the fact that we need to be more tolerant to our fellow man, and that we should try to improve ourselves everyday and somehown love others as you love yourself.

There is always room for improvement, as it's the largest room in your house.

so basically time is an ilusion created by man to explain the interval between two or several events or the duration of an event.

At the end is only a ilusion created by a conscient mind, as the universe as no notion of it.

Well no, Chris, light years is a measure of distance. A light year is the distance light travels in one year.
Tullio

This is only valid if you consider that C is constant. There are now cientists who are challenging this.

If it's proven that the speed of light is not a constant, then all modern physics have to be revised.
