Post: Nothing appears to be wrong with mine. It's unfortunate I didn't buy two cards when I built this computer. Little did I know they my GTX 460 would be discontinued before I could get the fundage. That's life I guess. |

Dropping Lunatics for stock settings during summer?

Post: What are you guys' thoughts? Obviously, I have a machine (Voyager) that can power crunch pretty good! But in the summertime, oh boy, the computer room gets extra warm because of the heat generated by Voyager. By going to stock settings and crunching less work units at a time, this will surely drop the heat that expels from Voyager, right? If not, then I have to switch to just GPU work to keep the heat down. Please give me your input. I built Voyager strictly to crunch for SETI@Home, and I'm going by the limited knowledge I have as I jumped into Lunatics quite early on and my hypothesis may not be correct. |

The private NTPCKR is thus because the code isn't completely functional enough to call it production for public viewing. Once it's completed we should start seeing it again. That's a pretty darn good explanation, and it makes perfect sense. Thanks Mr. Kevvy! (But that's what THEY want us to believe!) :D heheh |

Post: I was under the impression that a version of NTPCkr is being run, just not on a public facing machine. I smell a S@H conspiracy in the works! "There is a hidden NTPCkr!" and "No there isn't, they just want you to THINK there's a NTPCkr running out of the public eye!" :D If there is one, it would be cool to see it working. There's even a place on the forums to discuss NTPCkr stuff, so the intention was there all along to make it public...if the NTPCkr is running behind the scenes, they need to again make it available to the public - sure would like to see all the crunching we've done stand for something other than filling a database. |

I know I haven't been around long, and even though I have read up on NTPCkr on the forum and website, I am still scratching my head about why we have yet to see any current results from this system. I understand that it is something that costs money/people and that there is unlimited fundage, and that is an obvious valid issue. But it does seem like at some point with the donations that do come in, that some of the money, however little, should have been allocated to NTPCkr by now; enough so to have it up and visible to the public if it is indeed running. All the old-timers here on the forums and/or project people: Please enlighten me to what's up with this system, as you can obviously see I haven't a clue! ;) It sounds like it is something to help in all the data that's been collected, distributed to us crunchers, and then returned to S@H. Why do we still not have the NTPCkr system in place? |

Distributed by the Tibetan Centre for Human Right and Democracy, an NGO staffed by Tibetans in Dharamsala, India, the document offers various tools for combatting depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for members of the People’s Armed Police involved in recent human rights atrocities. Instead of recognizing the atrocities and discontinuing such things, they instead employ mental ways to deal with the human rights violations they commit. The Chinese still haven't gotten very far as a country or as a people. |

Post: Even assuming that some sort of FTL speed warp drive was invented, how do you protect the occupants of a craft from the G forces that would be involved in accelerating from rest? We've all seen the Star Trek opening sequences, going into warp drive, why weren't they all squashed to jelly? Star Trek and Star Wars both point to an inertial dampening system. But again, that's completely science fiction at this point obviously. What's cool is some sort of space warping theories that were once (well, still are) sci-fi are being explored. Who knows what the future holds :D |

Tibet is believed to hold as much as 30m-40m tons of copper, 40m tons of lead and zinc and more than a billion tons of high-grade iron ore. Post: A work in progress. That being said, it's still pretty intense to see the working theory being done by scientists. If they are able to prove it as practical, that would be pretty cool. Again, a theory that's nifty to see some attention and testing. Who knows what the future holds. Another intriguing explanation. And then we can't humor the possibility without watching this! |

Post: Thunderstorms have moved in to the area here in lower Michigan and will be around a couple of days. I have to shut down and unplug the cruncher as a precaution. (lost a laptop two years ago...not going to relive that experience again, hehe). Will be back up and running when the thunder boomers have passed. [Edit: The laptop was plugged in to the wall charger when it got fried...just for clarification :D ] |
