"Of course, we've been offline for 24 hours, so there's gonna be lots of traffic for a while making it hard to upload/download anything."

All right! For those of us who ran out of work and/or turned off our computers but are now getting work units downloaded. I noticed that a fair amount of the incoming wu's were going to be due on July 1st. Will there be an extension of time for those?

Great work on bringing the system to heel, Matt. Hopefully there won't be any outage over the long July 4th holiday.

Just finished: BOS (BOINC Online Schedulers) SL Edition :)

Placed right outside my mall, BOS SL will give you the opportunity to see the online status of the BOINC projects when you are online in SL.

It updates every 30 minutes (smaller intervals would be unsuitable in there).

If I understand you correctly, BOS updates somewhat like the SETI@work site, by querying the SETI@home data base? If so, a longer period for updating might be a good idea. Creating stress on the servers can be lessened, thereby. (The SETI@work site updates at 3 hour intervals when the data base is available.)

Please don't think that I am against the idea of BOS. Indeed, I think it's a wunnerful idea. Thank you for creating it.

This has been seen before when a batch of work units had malformed headers, I believe. Apparently the splitters messed up. I've got a few like that currently. The plan here is to dump my cache and start over with a new slate. Certainly not good etiquette, but there isn't really a good solution offered by the SETI team. I'm reasonably sure it isn't BOINC or my computer since EINSTEIN is working well.

And I love XP but they are gonna go to no support in 2009 so I had no choice. I didn't want it. I need a third choice that is compatible with all my programs.

That's not exactly true. MS's support for XP will officially continue until around 2014, but the sale of the OS is gonna stop around June 2008. I believe that individual users and especially the corporations have spoken decisively here. And if my limited experience with Vista is any indication, XP, a mature system, will go further into the future.

My 2 cents!

The download process is slow and intermittent. Hopefully everyone hass some wu's left in their cache so it isn't a problem at this time.
