4) Questions and Answers : Windows : Can't upload finished tasks (Message 795582)
Posted 10 Aug 2008 by Profile Greg Tingey
Post:
There is only too obviously something seriously amiss with the upload/download.

I've run out of work, I have EIGHT sets of work awaiting processing, and I can't get "in" - every time I try to Update, it schedules, fails, and goes around again.

Does anyone at UCLA realise this is happening?
Is anything being done about it?

It's doing it again!

After two or three days working apparently wewll, the download problems seem to have recurred.
Currently I've got NINE sets of data waiting to download, and it is picking up very erratically, if at all .....

Meanwhile, you can attach to additional BOINC projects details of which can be found here, here, and here.[/quote]

I don't want to attach to other projects - this is the important one - or have you got so many customers now, that pissing off a few, and losing them is so unimportant that you don't care?
8) Questions and Answers : Windows : FIX THE DOWNLOAD PROBLEMS (Message 620938)
Posted 17 Aug 2007 by Profile Greg Tingey
Post:
Yes SETI isn't the only project - but I still think, long-term it is the most worthwhile.

Which is why I'm also angry - though not "SHOUTING" - yet.

But, I've now got EIGHT (8) sets of data trying to download, and nothing happens.

Here in the UK, I can't just leave the line up, and hope for the best - it costs me in bytespace-time (if you see what I mean) on my 'phone line.

Support for SETI is not only financial it is moral and contributory in doing the calculations, and paying the 'phone bills.

So will someone PLEASE fix this problem, a.s.a.p. .......

It still isn't working.
As I type this I've got SIX (6) downloads trying to operate, and none of them are working, and I can't just sit on-line waiting in the mostly vain hope that something might happen.

I realise you have limited resources, but this really does need fixing.

Sorry folks, but this won't do.

There is only too obviously something wrong at the Berkely end, when I am on-lione for well over an hour now, and the BOINC programme at my end just can't pick up any work, and keeps re-cycling.

Here is a sample from my message tab:

Something, somewhere has gone very pear-shaped, and needs fixing.

It doesn't help, because nothing is downloading.

I've left my line open for an hour, and it just keeps cycling, and not picking up any work.

It seemed to be working yesterday evening, but it appears to have gone pear-shaped again, I'm afraid.

WELL!

Something happened there ...

Suddenly it all came back again, and my task manager is now showing 55-90% usage, and all is well, for the time being.

Confusing though.

I may add that ALL the sub-windows in my BOINC Manager are completely blank, and the only "buttons" that show active status (and not greyed-out) are those under the "messages" tab - where copy all messages is live, and everything under the statistics tab - not that clicking on any of them produces any result.

Something has dropped out/off somewhere - but what?

It is happening to me as well.

My machine finished all the work allocated, sent the results off - nothing came back, SETI has vanished from my "projects" list, I can't get back in touch - nothing/nada/nix/null/zero.
No information at all.

Normally, if I type "localhost" into Advanced / Set Computer, it fixes the problem, but not this time.
I've tried altering my preferences, but I can't even get in touch.

What is happening here, please?

Now, I can't even "update" ..
My BOINC local manager screen is completely blank, I can't get work, I can't communicate with your end - nothing.

I realise that you are currrently trying to fix this problem, but could we have some idea as to how soon the thing will be, before it is up-and-running again?

Please?
