Im running Dual 8800GTS's, no problem.

Its not burning any WU's on the quad CPu tho.. just feeding the dual GPU's.

Looks like they are running in High priority mode. weird, but Im assuming that with in HP, no new work would be asked for?

Running the new Boinc version, and Cuda.

Dual NX8800GTS 512's OC'ed 675mhz..

it burns through 20 WU's no prob.. and then it takes a while for it to grab new work, even with 1 Wu running, and i ask for more work it says requested 0 seconds of work.

I have cache setup at 2 days and like 250 GB's max usage.

Any ideas?

With all things being equal..

Would you for the projects overall progress given the same resources to do 1 thing before another.

make a client for mac Astropulses
make a client for Nvidia GPU users

I dont claim to know what goes on behind the scenes with the Seti crew, but From a strictly numbers standpoint. It makes more sense to do something with the highest return first

Trust me, not saying its fair by anymeans for the dedicated mac crunchers, just that it makes more sense from an overall progress point of view

Macs make up 5% of the total computers..(Worldwide that is) I honestly wouldn't worry about them as a high priority for a client.

Sure we could make it for ATI and I hope that they do.. however im a Nvdia user and have 2 nice rigs, which to me is going to let me do more science..

If all this comes down to a whine bout credits.. its not a valid argument.

How many people would still be here if all of a sudden no credit was awarded for Seti..

I bet the majority of seti crunchers, the part timers who like the screen saver wouldn't leave or care

Crunching for me is just a fun hobby to be in, the science, the computers.. everything, when we look at it like a job, or something more serious then something we enjoy.. wheres the fun in that?

I expect many threads about people who cant figure out how to install the Cuda drivers and get this setup properly.

then the people whining about GPU users having some obnoxious credit increases..

I look forward to the madness

Perfect!

Just setup my Q6600 to Always ask for Astro units being we need more people crunching them for science cause i see at trend of people not doing them cause of the credit..

and I got my ap info file right and have both Optimized apps running for MB and AP.. So im a happy camper now :D

i looked through the Boinc preferences on my local machines, but I cant find a way to locally set 1 machine of mine to do Astropulses.

Is there a way to make this happen as id like to keep the AP's off my AMD machine and let the intel one crunch em up.

you've been around a while, im sure you know.. Looking over every single work unit is going to well at least for me Stress's me out big time..

I just let em roll

how long actually did the WU take to crunch?

The two WU's i ran both came back at 68 Seconds..

They surly did not actually take 68 seconds to crunch.. that's what im getting at.

just to give you guys a hint on the beta cpu time to do one wu on a 260gtx is
gpu 168.5 sec not min or hours
gpu 68 sec not min or hours
gpu 126.5 sec not min or hours

norm time on cpu is 3 hours

=) i like this when well it hit main steam any time frame

ps: given the app uses .o3 cpu well the final ver have more then 2 apps running at the same time given that it only uses 10% of my gpu power on a duel core cpu

Incorrect..

Those are CPU Seconds used in crunching the unit. (Note the work is on the GPU and only uses the cpu to feed them when needed)

I was trying to time them last night.. but the two i did varried.. i dont have any firm data on average times (Using 8800GTS's)

So dont get your hopes of super RAC monsters yet..

they are the "bleeding edge"..

id personally wait for feb/march after AMD releases the Phenom II's and prices settle some past the "omg omg omg I want it now" mentality.

I just upgraded my computer to Vista 64 now that I have it where I wanted it. maxxed it out to 8 gigs of ram.

It wouldn't boot into windows with the ram at 1066, so im thinking If i cant even get in under stock speed, im going to have real problems OCing this with Vista 64 and 8 gigs of ram.
