Posted 5 Oct 2011 by White Mountain Wes Post: I found this article about a denial of service attack directed at HE yesterday. It may be just coincidence, but I can't help wondering if it is connected to the current S@H outage. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/connect/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501833&objectid=10756610 An online assault on a California company knocked out some of Vodafone's internet services yesterday. |

Posted 29 Aug 2011 by White Mountain Wes Post: Lost power for 14 hours, but not sure that really mattered since my cache is now empty and no results ready to send :-P Luckily, there are 1000+ waiting for validation and a happy GPUGRID project using my rig. Hope everyone was safe... That sounds like the the start of a good country music song :) I just got my power back up here in New Hampshire after a 15 hour outage. Not too bad considering. I too have seen a heck of a lot worse. This storm resulted in just a lot of small tree branches on the ground to clean up and a little bit of water damage to the driveway. Anyway, the 'puter is back up and crunching now. That's what's important, right? |

Posted 1 Jul 2011 by White Mountain Wes Post: I don't know about Jim, but I am. Connections have been solid since last night on proxy server 82.206.129.160 port 3128. I've tried to connect a couple of times without the proxy and no-joy. So I'll leave it on the proxy for now. |

Posted 1 Jul 2011 by White Mountain Wes Post: That worked for me but with a bit of a mixed result. I entered the server in your example and the 20 tasks that I have been trying to download for the past 3 days came through immediately after adding the proxy server. And then I got 20 more new jobs after that. But part way through downloading the 20 new jobs the connection seemed to die. So I tried the next server on the list in the link you provided and comms were restored. Only time will tell how long it will stay up. But at laeast for the first time in 3 days I am all caught up and have new work to chew on. Thank you! I tip my hat to you. |

HE connection problems thread
(Message 1122519)
Posted 28 Jun 2011 by White Mountain Wes Post: Hey all - I'm trying to characterize this current problem where some users are unable to reach any of our servers through Hurricane Electric. If possible please answer in this thread the following questions (feel free to leave out anything you want to keep private, or don't understand): I am running 2 machines over the same DSL modem/router. One is running win7-64 with an AMD quad core and it seems to communicate S@H normally. The other is an older single core Celeron D machine running Linux Ubuntu. That one was also communicating fine up until 2 weeks ago. Now it is only able to connect to S@H to download, upload, or report once or twice a day at best. Why one works and the other doesn’t is a mystery. This data is from the Ubuntu machine. I know this doesn't help you much. But whatever the source of your trouble is, it does not seem to be with the web site or inherent to the win 7/IE 9 combo. Good luck with your troubleshooting. |

Prpbably not. 6. write a sonnet – It would be utter dreck, but I could probably do it. 7. balance accounts – no problem. 8. build a wall – stone and wood. 9. set a bone – I think I could. I’ve been trained to do it, but have not had to yet 10. comfort the dying – I don’t know how comforting I was, but I gave I my best. 11. take orders – Aye, Aye! 12. give orders – Oh yah, you betcha! 13. cooperate – When I must. 14. act alone – I am better at that. 15. solve equations – I’m a bit rusty, but I think I could. 16. analyze a new problem – That’s what I like best. 17. pitch manure – Figuratively and literally. Effective, but highly inefficient. 21. die gallantly – I guess I’ll only know that when the time come. So I guess that's 16 or 17 out of 21. Is that a passing grade? |
