NVIDIA GPU's of the 4xx, 5xx, 6xx series normally run better when more than one instance runs / device.
But this is difficult to do manually.

This tool does this automatically and you get a result within 15 minutes.

Warning, this tool is tested on a limited number of machines. (V 1.0)

It uses the Lunatics optimized exe as a reference.
But you can drop in any version you like as long as you update the config.xml file.


My results:

GTX 295: 260 sec / device = 130 sec / board
GTX 480: 98 sec / device = 98 sec / board
GTX 590: 104 sec / device = 52 sec / board

Interesting to see what a 690 does.

The other option causes more overhead, it stops and starts the application.

Yes, I had checked that. In the middle of the message in parenthesis I had stated that BoincSimaps had the same CPID as I was using for other projects. I had gone back to Simaps web site and copied the CPID and placed it in the second slot, But I found it was the same as the first one so I erased it. Later. JB

You can check:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\eFMer\BoincTasks\stats

You find the xml file of all projects with that CPID.

Thanks for the very quick response. I believe I have a second (small) issue.
I added Project Rank as a column to display under Projects. This works great on my PC, but if I change sort options on my tablet Projects (1st column) from Z-A to A-Z then BoincSimap is only displayed as one line and no other lines are displayed. Reversing the sort order (Z-A) and all projects display. I think I have part of the reason....because for whatever reason in my case the Project Rank is listed as ?? (question marks)for BoimcSimap (same CPID). In reverse sort (Z-A) World Grid is first, which has a proper Project Rank as do all other projects except BoincSimap. When I remove Project Rank as a column then everything displays as expected. This is not a big issue with me, just thought you might like to know. BoincTasks is a great application, my thanks for a job well done. John

If you get a ?? you have to add a second cpid for the ?? projects.

The projects fight over the CPID and over time some CPIP should be left standing.
So over time there should be only one CPID, but my impression is that this can take forever.

I will check the project rank sorting, there seems to be something wrong there.

There is simply not always enough work.

I had 2 computers running out of CPU work.
It seems to have a preference to fill up the GPU buffer. That's not a bad thing.

Just the same I will add this to the (tablet) options menu as well.
A more logical place.

V 1.38 is now tested on Linux (Ubuntu 32 and 64)

But I don't have any conformation of Mac users yet.

The reason is, that on some machines I can't get a temperature reading.

I need some more reference information for AMD processors.
The more systems the better.

Install CPU-Z and go to the about box. Click on Save Report (.TXT), next email me the report.

Install TThrottle 5.80 or up.

In the logging tab check "debug"
Restart TThrottle and copy everything from the Logging tab and email it to me.
Make use I get everything right after a TThrottle start.

Go to the expert tab and click "start PCI scan"
Check "show All" and "Dump".
Click List.

Copy everything and email it to me.

1) Copy from CPU-Z
2) A copy from the Logging tab with "Debug" checked.
3) A copy from the PCI Scan list.

V 1.37 has a completely redesigned web server for BoincTasks Mobile.
This should enable it to work on Linux and OS X.

I personally got a lot of -226 errors on the CPU and GPU.
Device not found on the latest driver on some cards.

I was running CUDA 6.10 from BOINC 7.0.75 with 301.24 NVidia drivers. That worked fine. I saw the NVidia Beta 304.79 mentioned at anandtech.com decided to give them a try. Definitely faster on some graphics software. I also upgraded to BOINC 7.0.28. After the two upgrades all 1388 tasks in the queue returned "Error while computing" in less then 24 hours. Ouch. Any thoughts? I did a reset. I'll probably downgrade the NVIdia drivers to 301.42 for now.

Working OK on my iPad2.

Only problem is no "right click" on pending tasks to "retry" would have been useful today :-)

PS Looks good!!
