Yup, suspect that boinc is being preempted - thus the 'no heartbeat'?

But i've got no virus scanner running, and CPU throttle is already set at 100%, running both pseudo-cores (P4-HT) at full throttle opening.

Will investigate the preemption-issue...

Edit: Hmmm... Actually i've had the throttling set to below 100% at some point on this particular machine - then returned it to 100%. Nice FAQ - spot on :)

Running Debian Lenny + Boinc Client 6.2.14

I've noticed that approx. 75% of all WU's processed fail miserably.

BOINC har been purged and reinstalled through apt, but to no avail.

Can anyone see what's wrong, using below shown info:

3) Questions and Answers : Web site : "Your computers": localhost - how to rename? (Message 762754)

Clicking on the "View" link related to "Computers on this account" brings me to my list of managed computers all right. Some of them running Debian Linux (but not all) are named 'localhost' in stead of their unique hostnames.
How do i change this?

Hmmm... executing 'hostname -f' on a 'localhost'-named machine gets me - localhost. Read in another thread that this is remedied by rearranging content of /etc/hosts content related to loopback interface. Tried it. Worked. Now response to 'hostname -f' is machine name. This filters down to online account upon update.

'hosts' was:
127.0.0.1 localhost snoopy
.
.

'hosts' now is:
127.0.0.1 snoopy localhost
.
.
Hrmpft!! Simple - if you know how.

5) Questions and Answers : Unix/Linux : How Do I run BOINC on Debian (Message 762342)

Easy:

Open Synaptic. Search for 'boinc'.

Check boinc-manager, boinc-client and boinc-app-seti.

Apply.

Alternatively, you may also (as root) execute

apt-get install boinc-manager boinc-client boinc-app-seti
