I do not know why we keep the poor so poor, but that is why our economy crashed. Many people are so poor that when gas went up over the last couple of years some could not afford the pay the babysitter and buy gas to go to work. There was no money to buy anything but gas. Some people quit work because they were losing money going to work and some were laid off because sales fell. Only the government can fix this problem.

We need to drill because oil will go back up as soon as more Americans get back to work and can afford to buy gas.

I would rather have an electric car or even an electric golf cart. I live close enough to work either would work for me. If I was in better health a bike would work. North Carolina could legalize electric golf carts.

If car prices and technology had improved as much as computers have well.. We all know about frogs and wings.

Think how much money could be diverted to R&D is all CEO's and executives were limited to $500,000 a year.

The CEO's may not be the problem. Does anyone remember how to not kick someone when he is down? How about in boxing when after a man is knocked down the other person is sent to the far corner. Competition no longer helps make American business stronger it destroys businesses. This is what needs to change. We need rules to prevent business from destroying one another. Why do we need such rules? Because there are jobs at risk. Innocent workers, not corporate players are getting hurt. The country is getting hurt. Of course Corporate pay should be limited, but all pay should be regulated somewhat. Minimum wages is the only protection many people have. Maximum pay is equally important. Running a large business is an art; however, to say the CEO should make 40+ times what the custodian makes is ridiculous. Let's see how well the CEO likes using a dirty toilet.

No one would intentionally create Anchor Babies. The authors of the 14th amendent made no provision for the parents of these "persons born". An adult or child who is naturalized does not require another possibly non-citizen to gain admittance into the USA. An infant baby requires constant care, yet the parents may not be citizens and could be asked or required to leave. There are three possibilities: 1) The child stays but the parents leave if they cannot become naturalized. 2) The child a US citizen leaves with the parents. 3) The parents get to stay, a reward for having a baby. The 14th amendent is about dealing with former slaves. These former slaves were granted citizenship. And the states could not take it away.

The reason for the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924 was because Elk v. Wilkins 1884 ruled Indians are not citizens of the US. I do not completely understand "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof", but the 14th amendent does not give citizenship purely as a result of birthplace.

My last disagreement with the courts is the use of English Common Law tradition. We fought a war to get out from under English Law. English Common Law excludes from citizenship at birth only two classes of people: 1) children born to foreign diplomats and 2) children born to enemy forces engaged in hostile occupation of the country's territory. The Supreme Court in "United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 (1898)" cited English Common Law. This case delt with the children of a Chinese couple living legally and operating a business in San Francisco, California. The court granted citizenship to the children of the legal aliens. Chief Justice Melville Fuller, in a dissenting opinion joined by Justice John Harlan and cited the 14th amendent claming the children were not US citizens because their parents were subject to China. Please see the artical in Wikipedia as a starting place and then please look up the actual Supreme Court decisions.

This is one of the problems I have with the courts. According to an article in Wikipedia, Senator Jacob M. Howard of Michigan, the Senator who allegedly authored the citizenship clause "described the clause as excluding not only Indians but “persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers"." I found this quote on page 2890 of The Congressional Globe dated May 30, 1866. It is in the center column 3/4 of the way down. This is a record of the debate that produced the 14th amendment. Senator Cowan stated "It is perfectly clear that the mere fact that a man is born in a county has not heretofore entilted him to the right to exercise political power. The courts choose when to ignore the intent of the authors of legislation when the courts want to impose their views. Wouldn't that make Native Americans be citizens? Elk v. Wilkins, 112 U.S. 94 (1884) 'supreme.justia.com/us/112/94/case.html'

Being President of the USA is not just about citizenship but also being born on US soil.

Here is a good solution to citizenship: I suggest two categories, First Generation Citizens and their Posterity.

First Generation Citizens are persons that are naturalized or were/are living on land when it became part of the USA. Naturalized means going through some legal process to become a citizen. Examples of people living on land when it became part of the USA would be people living in Delaware on December 7, 1787 or in North Carolina on November 21, 1789 or in Hawaii on August 21, 1959.

Posterity are children whose biological father and mother are both US citizens. If only one parent is a US citizen the child should go through some legal process to determine citizenship. For instance if the child was born in Vietnam - The child of a US soldier. If neither parent is a citizen the child is not a citizen unless he/she is Naturalized. Children born in the USA are not automatically citizens of the USA. The courts are WRONG!!

The courts misinterpreted "We the People". The militiamen that fought against the British and wrote the Declaration of Independance as well as the Constitution of the United States were "We the People". Many of us are their posterity. Simply being born in the USA does not make one part of "We the People"

President Bush is getting blamed for a lot of things he had no control over. Maybe we should give Obama control over more of the economy. Could the country do any worse with Obama at the helm than it did on auto-pilot.

All of this is very scary. It is as if an unseen force is pushing us toward Socialism, kind of like the old StarTrek episode where the unseen force was causing Captain Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise to fight a Klingon crew. If the government does not intervene, the rich with their me before everyone else atitude will destroy the middle class. I remember my Sunday School classes where the teacher talked about a one world government and a mark without which a person could not buy or sell. Cartels and monopolies are making some necessary products too expensive, almost enslaving us, while WalMart with its low prices and margins is driving down wages. The rich are using their wealth to challenge democratic rule. In case not everyone got it, the rich just forced the government to pay a ransom or they would destroy our economy.

I have three problems with what I am reading:

1) These non-combatants are not all that innocent. In the USA children inform on their parents for smoking pot. Yet no one is informing on or arresting the people firing weapons of mass distructions into Israel. These non-combatants are aiding and abating the terroriest. They should not be excuted by Israel for this but they must be held accountable. But How?

2) As for occupying Palestine - There is not a legitimate government unless the terroriest which were voted into office by the people are a legitimate government. I do not want the USA to occupy Palestine. Remember the 250+ marines that were murdered in Lebanon in 1983. The UN is unable to occupy Palestine. The Palestinian people are unable or unwilling to govern themselves. No other neutral party is willing to government Palestine, so Israel must in order to protect itself.

3) Israel was created by the UN. The surrounding nations have always hated Israel. The surrounding nations attacked Israel long before any occupation occured, unless the creating of the state of Israel by the UN is an occupation. The surrounding nations could have assimilated the displaced Palestinians but they wanted them to use them as victims just as they are being used today.

Honestly the USA has enough problems of its own. I'm realy concerned about wages, interest, housing and heathcare. Va is talking about cutting money from public education. Our deficit is going to crush our children and trade has ruined our ability to produce what we consume.

Having studied what was done by people professing to be Christians, one can only conclude they did not have a New International Version back then. Actually they did not have the King James or any other Bible back then. How can someone who professes to be a Christian not follow the New Testament?

Islam is an ideallogy much like white supremacy. Because of the teachings of hatred it should not be given the same protections as other religions. It and its followers should be look upon with disgust. Please recall in Judsism how prostitutes, their johns and especially homosexuals were stoned to death. No one has been excuted in modern Iseral for these actions or lifestyles. Iran reciently executed a homosexual. Judsism has adapted to the modern world. Islam has not. It is no more reasonible to believe a Muslim who claims not to agree with the hatred in Islam than to believe a KKK clansman who claims not to hate blacks. I am not attempting to support Isreal, but rather to question the choices of the Palestinian people who choose to be Muslim and allow Hamas to atatack Isreal.
