1) Message boards : Number crunching : Anyone else get SPAMMed by berkeley.edu today? (Message 1797806)

Did anyone else get that non solicited email from Berkeley today entitled:
"News: Advanced manufacturing, Olympian construction, Materials Project"

Wondering why after 18 years of being with this proghram, they felt to utilize the SETI@home mailing list to send out unsolicited e-mails?

All the best,
Aaron Lephart

I also deleted my smart car team about a week ago. Didn't make sense to keep it online. I am sure other team members where in agreement.

I may be joining you at this point! Unsettling response (or lackthereof) from management has me question the entire projects validity. Good luck.

I'd rather they put the energy into fixing the credit system...

Agree 100%. But until management accepts that it *IS* a problem, nothing will be done.

Seen it, actually depressing. I wish it was back the "old" way. "Some people" gauge their entire existence to this project.

For sake of argument, I have 2 computers running SETI. One running 3x 750 Ti's and one running a 980,TITAN-X,780 classy. All GPU jobs and no CPU.

There used to be a HUGE difference in RAC between the machines! Now it's less the 5,000RAC. Any ideas?

Guess I picked a bad time to become a project supporter.

Last night my SETI account hit 100 million credits. 17 years and I could have sworn I had an account before July of 99 but through some sort of server problem (there have been any through the years) I had to recreate an account.

You can't be missing more than two months. From Wikipedia: "SETI@home was released to the public on May 17, 1999" So actually, only a month and a half.

Thanks, now I don't feel to bad!

I was late to the game on the GPU front but have been picking up steam ever since.

Thanks to all those involved, and to celbrate I disbanded my smart car team and join the "Marine Core" team in honor of my parents. I also have the credit card out and am becoming a site donor, I encourage everyone else o do the same.

All the best,

I should have reread the title. It's not that the RAC is so different right now, but that it SHOULD be!

I went through a computer meltdown and ever since the rebuild it seems the RAC is not matching up with the GPU power I have.

2 machines,

AMD 8350CPU 16GB 3X 750ti cards http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7147946

AMD X6CPU 32GB 1x TitanX, 1x 980, 1x 780 classy
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7917150

The RAC on the 750ti's is about normal but the titanX machine is lagging hard.

Can anyone look at the output files and see what I might have overlooked? I would really appreciate it!

All the best,
Aaron Lephart

I found a deal on a EVGA 750TI SC for $110.00 shippped. Looks like a winner for a bang-for-the-buck category! I am currently running 5 of these in various machines and nothing to date beats it for RAC per watt.

Same here. The V8 rollout could have been alot better organized. And to not have GPU work for so long really sucks. I have never had such much heartache over a volunteer program.
