I'm now watching The Act on Hulu. I'm familiar with the story because I watched one of those true crime TV shows about it. This should go into more detail. The down side is that this is, technically, a drama, so some of the people and "facts" will be a little exaggerated, I think.

We had a wicked storm here last night and, while it could have been much worse, this is what I woke up to today. I'm going to try to straighten it out, but it will never be the same. :-(





I'm thinking about contacting the company that makes it to see if they'll replace the top part. Maybe.

This is a new bug for me. I found it dying in my house, no doubt a victim of abuse by the cats. If any of you want to try to identify it, feel free. I live in central Texas (west of Waco). I have submitted pix to a Facebook group of entymologists. I dug through pix on a couple of websites but had no luck. I suspect it is some sort of fly.

I thought "Catch 22" was about raising the mission number, but it's not. It's about not being crazy.

Finished watching. It was very, very good. (Total of six episodes.)

I'm going to be making enchilada casserole very soon. Just like enchiladas only you layer the ingredients in a baking dish. So much easier.

I don't make it often enough. The same applies to the other Mexican foods I cook (burritos, tacos, chili relleno casserole, et. al.).

Aw! She's a little cutie pie! In the first picture it looks like she might be nursing. Perhaps she'll introduce you to her kits soon?

You can see that?!

I have seen a second, smaller raccoon. The two were together but went separate ways when I startled them.

This is one of the (at least) two guys who have been visiting my home recently. Amazing to me that he let me get these pix. Also amazing that the dogs didn't go crazy and scare him away. They usually do, but I guess they weren't aware that he was out there. I was trying to keep it a secret.

I've finally started "reading" Dave Barry's Lessons from Lucy. (Actually listening to it using CDs.) Not as funny as Dave's other stuff, but this isn't really like Dave's other stuff. In fact, people have been calling it a "self-help" book and putting in the self-help section of the bookstores.

Have you read the book? And what’s going on in the show?

I think I might have a very long time ago. If I did, I've forgotten most of it so, if you're hoping I can compare the show to the book, I can't. I can say, thought, that it was Terry Pratchett's hope that this book would become a show, and Neil Gaiman was around for everything, so it probably is very much like the book. It was very funny.

Some of you might remember that I put a small, decorative windmill in my front yard a while back. After it was there about a week, I put some gravel underneath it in a small square. I just thought it looked better that way. (I don't think I uploaded a pic with the gravel underneath.)

Well, as I suspected they might, the cats started to use the gravel as a litter box. To prevent that, today I put this planter underneath the windmill. It's not quite big enough to completely deter the cats, but it'll help a bit, and it looks nice, imho.

Plants in the planter are one flax lily (the tall one in the middle), two Mexican heathers, two "wheels of wonder" ice plants, and one black sweet potato vine (I don't know what I was thinking with that one). All are full-sun perennials.

As far as the "lawn" is concerned, I've been having trouble with my lawn mower, which is why the lawn hasn't been mowed for a few weeks. I started mowing one day, but then the mower wouldn't restart after I had to stop for some reason. And I haven't been able to get it working since. (I've had it "repaired" and "serviced" twice, so please don't suggest that I have it looked at.) I have a new, electric mower on its way so the lawn will be mowed by the weekend.
