My two macs have been put on quota because they have done nothing but return errors lately. Should I just disable BOINC for a little while or let them continue under quota (roughly 3 a day)??

I came here from the Q&A on Apple PCs so hopefully this is the correct spot to pose my question/issue. I have a somewhat out-of-date MacPro that I have not upgraded the OS since Tiger (10.4). Currently, my messages seem to be saying something about powerPC which seems odd because my MacPro is an intel machine.

This is the initial part of my messages (i686 seems normal). Then I get errors about powerPC ???

Evil is a concept made up by Man that is used to pit one man against another an make killing less of a bother on one's conscious mind. Life is a competition where it seems like everything eats something else. Even plants compete for light and nutrients using chemical weapons. So I would say LIFE is evil.

Just read an article on the BBC site that said that whites will be just under 50% of the high/grade school population in the US of A. Once the USA goes darker it will only be a matter of time before it gets dark in Canada to. The US won't have jobs for all the people so they will try Canada.

Do you ever wonder why the US media is giving us so much detailed information about a crash that happened in a Ukraine war zone yet for Flight 93 that crashed in the middle of the USA we got pretty much no information. There was never any pictures of airplane parts or body bags or anything other than a ditch in the ground. There also was no call for an international investigation for the crash of flight 93. Seems like our Gov put the hush-hush on that crash but our Gov wants to know all the details of the Ukraine crash. Seems a bit fishy to me. I think the US has an agenda here.

The company I work for (at least for now) averages a "critical patch" installation a week. Definitely not a good thing.

Lets face it. Windows was started for isolated PCs. It was a step backwards in OS'es. Mainframe OS'es had long ago been designed to keep users from killing other users. The Mac OS is IMHO much better than windows as far a OS security goes because it is based more on old time OS'es that had much better built in security features.

I love Microsoft products like Excel and Access (Office in general), but the Windows OS was a step backward and has not even yet reached security levels present in mainframe OS'es 20+ years ago. Things don't always move in straight forward lines.

I just listened to Obama's speech on health care. All I will say is: mandating that people and business buy health insurance is the same as a new TAX. Only it is more insidious. It is the government forcing people to buy something whether they can afford it or not. But, it doesn't go to government coffers, but rather it goes to private companies. So now, the government is directly forcing people who can lest afford it to fork over more of their money. This health care bill is just more taxation from a government totally out of control. It must be stopped. They should spend more time stopping the outsourcing of all the good jobs. Soon, no one will be able to afford this new health tax because they do not have enough income. JOBS are the issue, not health care. My rant is over.

It is not just illegals who violate "lawn space". My property is right on a public two lane highway. There is no ditch to prevent cars from driving through my lawn. I had so many bad drivers tear through my yard that I finally just gave up mowing close to the road. Now I just let the highway department mow it.

I guess in general I would say that illegals should not be here, but I think than many of them are probably better people that many of my fellow Americans. Think about it, they have come to a strange country to try to make their life better. Most of us Americans do everything in our power to screw our fellow countrymen. I am not sure who is better. At this point I have a very dim view of other people in general.

The computer industry has always had a part of it that tries to "standardize" certain things. In my view, Microsoft's large market share has "standardized" things. The fact that Windows and Office have a large market share makes communications easier between companies and even inside companies.

Maybe the jailers just didn't want to take care of the guy as he dies an ugly death from cancer. They sent him home so that his family can watch him die and clean up the messes he makes as he dies.

I'd go for a single payer government run system in the USA anyday over the current a zillion and one insurance company rip off schemes we have. What I definitely do not want is to be mandated to buy insurance like they have done in the state of Mass. I am going to pay the gov. one way or another. I am either going to pay taxes for a single payer system, or I am going to pay fines for not buying mandated insurance. I'd rather pay taxes and get something.

The best health care is prevention. Medicine might be high tech, but I think for the most part they are clueless about most health issues.

I have seen some cases where I am 70 times slower than my wingman. The above line is Result ID, WU, My computer #, wingman #, my cpu sec, wingman cpu sec, and then granted credit. The WU is no longer available for viewing because seti trims them so quickly.

I just wonder how I can take so long compared to another computer. Does CUDA get the same CPU timing measurement as main CPU timing?

I have not been running seti much lately, so I am a bit out of touch with current developments.

Anyone know if there is any big differences with these two app files ?

ap503-i686-apple-darwin-r112

astropulse_5.03_i686-apple-darwin

I am currently running astropulse_5.03_i686-apple-darwin and have had WUs validate OK. I saw a note from BLURF in other threads to use r112. I just wonder if I should be using the r112 app or if it is OK to keep running the one I am.

Anyone watch 60 minutes? Those crooks at Enron (defunct now thank god) seem to have had a hand in the run up in oil. The same traders that defrauded California worked their black magic with oil too. I wonder where the crooks are now. Where the next big bubble bursts, I bet you will find someone that came from Enron.

The ability for humans to justify killing ensures that killing will never stop. Israel is becoming just like the beast that formed that state. The Nazi were ruthless killers and now so is Israel. I will also say that Hamas are ruthless killers. There is no room for talk. The one that totally destroys the other will be the winner. I think Israel is at the disadvantage. They have the military might. Their enemies have the shear numerical advantage and mobility. Israel is a sitting duck.
