Has Seti@Home grown too big to survive?

Post: I don't post a lot. But I have to post to this thread. I can't say if SETI has grown too big, but what I can say is that I enjoy using the cycles on my computers to help with science. If SETI is down, I simply switch to climate prediction, or malaria control. I personally would like to think that its my computer that will find ET, but I doubt it. Like has been said before, the chances of it happening are almost non-existent. But almost is not never, so I let my computers crunch when they aren't being used. |

I'm quitting Seti 'cause of increased power cost coming from "Cap and Trade"

Post: My wife is a graduate student working on molecular modeling for HIV. So when she isn't using her computers, I sneak into the office and run BOINC. She keeps the computers running all the time, so why not use those extra cycles? Where I am located, most of our electricity comes from nuclear, so its still relatively cheap. |

Post: And just as I convinced my wife to let me install Boinc on her 2 Linux machines too. I was looking forward to seeing how much my numbers jumped. Climateprediction.net is also having problems. Must be a bad time for everyone. |
