Post: What the point in stealing members? I don't get it.. this is all about mutual growth and encouragement isn't it? There's no payment for credits... haha. I guess people don't need a reason to steal/decieve/cheat? |

Post: I don't mean to be redundant or annoying, but I am frankly suprised at well, the lack of talking about aliens on the SETI boards... Or are just all those threads buried back behind casual day to day chatter? I mean, I don't necessarily think a conspiracy thread is a great place to discuss rational et ideas... but still. I buy into that there are aliens. Not sure if it's a BAD conspiracy. Would the government be really doing us a favor to tell us? I mean if they did... chaos, etc. Man just isn't read for it. Now I do think maybe, just maybe they could be priming us up to become ready. Like go back 60 years ago, and aliens was a weird idea. After star trek, star wars, battlestar galactica, etc. etc. it's almost become a casual idea. I think maybe when it becomes less threatening to human belief structure that the governments might be willing to show it. Hence films like "Signs" that try to tell people that a belief in god and aliens aren't necessarily contradictory, etc. The more the merrier. So maybe my conspiracy, is a conspiracy to get man ready to know the ufo conspiracy. Like gradual introductions into the idea over 50 years. I'd say we are far more receptive today of it than 50 years ago. I just wonder if it'll take another 50 years to get us perfectly ready. |

Post: 英語ãŒè©±ã›ã¾ã™ã‹ã€‚ Haha, I don't know much japanese... but anyways, as americans we can be so culturally and linguistically inept. Heh. I try to learn other languages but usually foreigners all speak the english language. I guess making everyone else speak your language is a greater victory than learning all other languages (because it takes less effort, and success without effort is the greatest achievement). |

Post: “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.†- Calvin Coolidge, 30th President of the United States (and my favorite). "Our government rests upon religion. It is from that source that we derive our reverence for truth and justice, for equality and liberality and for the rights of mankind. Unless the people believe in these principles they cannot believe in our government. There are only two main theories of government in the world. One rests on righteousness and the other on force. One appeals to reason, the other appeals to the sword. One is exemplified in a republic, the other is represented by a despotism. The government of a country never gets ahead of the religion of a country. There is no way by which we can substitute the authority of law for the virtue of men. Of course we can help to restrain the vicious and furnish a fair degree of security and protection by legislation and police control, but the real reform which society in these days is seeking will come as a result of religious convictions, or they will not come at all. Peace, justice, charity- these cannot be legislated into being. They are the result of Divine Grace." - Also Calvin Coolidge. |

Post: Oh, so now America is waking up to the war on the middle class? Hello, where ya been? Ironic many, maybe even a majority, of americans support the very free trade that is destroying these jobs. Even the service sector will dwindle when you send a dollar to india, because then the indian spends it on indian malls, restaurants, theatres, etc. indian services, not american. And it's actually against my interests to advocate it, being a business owner who outsources to india myself. |

Post: Oh, wow, yes we should allow women to be oppressed. just because an abused woman wants to stay with her husband doesn't mean she's in the right place. On a side note, if they can wear full garb, are you saying I can wear ski masks into a bank? They're being shielded 100% from the society they live in. It's wrong not only religiously speaking, but morally and socially. We are losing what it means to BE an american in this country. The only things that used to unite us, are taken away. Language, generally similar racial structure (I date across racial lines, but you have to admit homogenous societies operate much smoother, without riots and elitist handouts), economic prowess, we're not number #1 for per capita income, Norway is, we're #3 but others will soon overtake us as well. We're even losing the will to fight. The Iraq war is the second most successful war in mankind's history, short of only the first gulf war. Yet by watching american media, you'd think we'd lost. |

What's the Hype over on G4TV?
(Message 440308)
Posted 20 Oct 2006 by voip man
Post: Got me all excited there for a moment. I wonder if SETI DID find proof who they would leak it to... G4TV might be a good place assuming they aren't all bureacratic. You definitely would not want to go to a.... typical media source. Government would want to control that, possibly out of good motives (to stop society from panicking) or less savory (hiding military advantages gained over other nations) or bad (leave you to speculate that stuff). To be honest, I don't really expect an advanced ET civ to use radio waves, maybe there is a different way to explain space travel. But, it's worth a shot. Even if we did though, how would we contact them? (or would we even want to?) |
