1) Message boards : SETI@home Science : Three pulses (Message 1638471)

So, I just noticed a recurring series of three pulses on my SETI screen saver. I know this stuff is usually terrestrial in origin, but it still was exciting. That'd be awesome if I just found me a bona-fide ET signal <.<

I assume I don't need to let anyone know, but the nerd in me wants to tackle a scientist and have them analyze this stuff.
2) Questions and Answers : Preferences : Can't seem to max out GPU and CPUs (Message 1451277)

Howdy. So, I recently did some upgrades on a system and have been having some issues. I have the newest version of BOINC (downloaded last night), a freshly installed Windows 8.1, and the latest NVIDIA drivers for my old Geforce 280 GTX cards in 2-way SLI. I have 8 GB of RAM.

I was having trouble getting both GPUs to run but all 8 of my logical processors on my FX 8320 would max out at 100% for World Community Grid except for the one paired with the GPU for SETI, so I tried out the lunatics patch thingie in hopes of getting BOTH GPUs to compute.

Now both GPUs are constantly computing, but I'm only ever maxxing out around 3 cores at most. Utilization is hanging around 30% for CPU overall in windows task manager. Everything is set to 100% and unlimited core utilization in the BOINC manager. Halp?
3) Questions and Answers : GPU applications : Will my old GPUs work? (Message 1450193)

Howdy all.

I've been doing the computer parts shuffle today and was wondering;

If I slapped my Radeon HD4600 and a Radeon HD4300/HD4400 into my old Athlon 64 x2 system (I use it as a internet TV streaming box), are there any projects that could make use of the old GPUs? I'm hoping to break into the top 3000s for US contributions soon, so every little bit of processing would help me get to that milestone :)

I seem to recall that my HD4600 would occasionally get some use on some projects, but I can't recall which.

I mostly do World Community Grid and some SETI these days. If any other projects would be able to make constant use of my old GPUs, I'll be happy to lend their cycles.

Suggestions appreciated.

4) Questions and Answers : GPU applications : When will Kepler be supported? (Message 1318024)

Running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit, Core i5 at 4.4GHz, and two Geforce 670 GTX cards. I'd like to lend my spare cycles to BOINC (SETI@home and world community grid in particular), but kepler still isn't supported.

It's really frustrating, having been BOINCing for years, to not be able to easily boinc now that I have access to a faster system.

I am greatly concerned that by having a whole series of popular graphics cards not work with SETI@home, that you'll risk turning off a lot of potential volunteers / alienate a number of existing ones. I sincerely hope a fix is in the works to allow individuals to easily contribute once again.

Some questions regarding the FAQ:

a) Use an optimised Cuda application, where available.
b) Downgrade to the 301.42 driver - only possible on GTX 670/680/690 cards, not on newer releases like the 650/660 or their Ti variants.
c) Set an environment variable, as shown below."

a) what the hell is an optimised Cuda application?
b) Um, no. I use my computer for games regularly, so this is not an option. Is this part an absolute must?
c) Confusing... step b said use 301.42 driver... step c wants us to use 306 driver?
I figured out how to do this in Windows 8, but the FAQ is rather lacking in a few of the steps for the more novice computer users who would like to contribute.

creating the environment variable doesn't seem to fix the problem. No matter what I try, SETI keeps erroring out.
