Degrading CPU performace

Post: Just wondering how much BOINC degrades CPU performance over time, if at all, seeing as I run BOINC at 100% CPU 24/7. I'm running an E6750 OC'd to 3.2GHz. it helps but yet it doesnt help. if you have your computer on all the time it keeps it from having power surges when u turn it on and off. but since you are running at 100% it makes the cpu run hotter which will burn transistors out a little bit faster but by the time it makes a big differance your computer is out of date anyway. plus as long as your computer is on it will burn out transitors in the cpu from normal where and tear that is why your computer is slower after a couple months or even years. it is realy only worth turning off your computer (because of the power surges when u turn it on and off) if you use it once a week or less. hope this helps |
