Before Wiggo 'fixes' up his tab, may I add a large V8 Juice, a 16 Oz. Major Dickason's Blend black coffee, and a large water please.

To Bluestar's Tab, I'll have my TimeLord's Stomach Stuffer Omelette with crumbled bacon, sausage, sauteed Crimini mushrooms, sauteed yellow onions, sauteed spinach, and Pepper Jack cheese and Cheddar Cheese.

Thanks, Mike, Wiggo, and Bluestar.

[Tooth #9, Crown Update:]

So, yesterday, the dentist installed my permanent Crown at Tooth #9. I asked if she wanted me to pay my $50 Deductible, and
I was informed that my insurance is being 'difficult' right now, and to hold off paying ANYTHING until they work out the details
with Anthem Blue Cross Dental Insurance....

This DOES NOT bode well.... :'-(

[DISH Network Update:]

So, I FINALLY got through to DISH Network Customer Service! :-O A feat in and of itself, as they were hacked and the hackers, somehow,
took down their Call Centers, as well as being able to make changes, or even Login online. The hackers made their move after February 19th,
and DISH Agents were on this as of February 27th. ONLY in the last two to two and a half weeks were the phone systems restored to allow
incoming calls by customers. HOWEVER, NOT all the Call Centers were in play. So, hold times were OUTRAGEOUS, IF you could even get
into the Call Queue. As I said, I FINALLY got through today.

DISH has informed me that they are NOT holding out for a solution to the Weigel contract dispute, and that it looks like MeTV WILL NOT
be returning to DISH Network on National Channel 247. I asked if they could connect my services up to the Local Broadcast of KTLN, Sub-channel
68.2, and I was informed that they can only give me Local Channels already in the Local Programming that are contracted area by area. So,
as KTLN, Sub-Channel 68.2 IS NOT in the Local Broadcast Lineup, I will NOT be getting MeTV at all; UNLESS I subscribe to Frndly Streaming
Service for $6.99/Month and put that App on our ROKU Ultra 4K Device. According to the DISH Rep, Frndly WILL give me MeTV via streaming,
as well as other Local Channels NOT in the DISH Network Lineup.

So, THAT'S THAT! :'-(

About 25 Minutes ago, my Veneer at Tooth #9, (front upper left tooth), POPPED OFF - AGAIN!!!!! :-O

I'm going in to my dentist's office, Monday morning, to replace the Veneer with a FULL Crown to STOP
THIS NONSENSE of the DAMNED THING CONTINUOUSLY POPPING OFF!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I REALLY DON'T HAVE the money for a Crown!

TL

[Re-Posting Original Post, above....]

3-15-2023 at 4:21 PM - PDT

[UPDATE:]

Well, my dentist ran my insurance over the phone to Anthem Blue Cross. (A QUITE LIMITED Dental Plan....)
Anthem told them over the phone that, "...He is covered at full coverage, minus his deductible for a crown at
tooth number nine."

The last time I needed a crown was Tooth #3, (upper right, second Molar), AND Anthem DID NOT cover the
full expense, minus my deductible... In fact, after paying my $50 Deductible, and Anthem then taking the
dentist's billed amount, and reducing that to the 'Negotiated Rate', THEN adjusted the 'Negotiated Rate'
and paid ONLY $264 leaving me a balance of $465 for Tooth #3's crown.... This was MORE than several
years back....

So, I'm leery of what Anthem is telling the SAME dentist's office NOW. HOWEVER; IF true, then the
'To Be Billed Amount' will be $971 to Anthem, I pay $50 for my Deductible, and according to what
the Anthem Rep told the dentist, that's all I'll need to pay for Tooth #9's new crown. Armed with this info,
my dentist took impressions, and X-Rays of the area, and then replaced my failing Veneer with a Temporary
Crown. The X-Rays, Digital Images, and the Impressions were sent to the Dental Lab for creation of the
Permanent Crown. My Appointment to have the Permanent Crown installed is this coming Tuesday, the
21st. We'll see what Anthem pulls, or tries to pull for Billing at that time. HOWEVER; on the 21st, ALL I
will be paying will be $50 for my Deductible. (THEN the waiting begins to find out ACTUALLY what
Anthem Blue Cross WILL be doing in handling the Claim.)

NOW, unfortunately, this MAXES OUT my yearly allotment of $1K Annual Benefits. So, for my Bi-Annual
Cleanings and Annual X-Rays, (June and December), I will HAVE TO pay out of pocket for those services.
(Assuming Anthem holds true to their word, and that the Permanent Crown at Tooth #9 will be covered at
100%, minus my $50 Deductible.)

IF this all goes through as the Anthem Rep has stated, then for my Cleanings and X-Rays, (June and December),
I have a secondary 'Dental Discount Plan' through Aetna Vital Savings. This 'SHOULD' reduce those billings,
slightly, and reduce my 'Out of Pocket' expenses for those services. (AND, THANKFULLY, my dentist ALSO
accepts the Aetna Vital Savings' dental discount plan.)

TL

[EDIT:]

AND, the Aetna Vital Savings' dental discount plan is ONLY $75 a year! An expense well
worth the provided discounts in said plan! :-)

TL. Can you receive Bay Area - MeTV - KBCW (Over the air) 44.3?

Edit: Did some hunting and found that channel 68.1 is broadcast on channel 22. And 44.1 is broadcast on channel 28. So try adding 22 and 28 to your channel list. Can’t say it will help but it is worth a try.

3-13-2023 at 2:49 PM - PDT

Admiral,

44.1/28 is NOT offered/broadcast in my part of the East Bay. 68.2 and/or 68.4, (MeTV and MeTV+) IS broadcast from Mt. Allison in Novato, 27.6 Miles from me.

With the 'appropriate' OUTDOOR/Roof Mounted Antenna, I WOULD be able to EASILY pick up MeTV. HOWEVER; with being in an HOA, (A STRICT ONE),
I AM NOT allowed to mount a VISIBLE Outdoor Antenna on the roof of the house!

Due to the fact that I am QUITE limited to an INDOOR Amplified Digital OTA Antenna, I am, therefore, limited to the available channels that can be picked up.
The current Indoor Amplified Digital OTA Antenna I have purchased ONLY picks up 18 Local Channels; SEVERAL are immediate repeats of the Locals administered
by DISH Network over the Satellite DISH Antenna. (Installed at the back of the house, at the garage, North wall, facing Southwest to pick up Satellites 110, 119, & 129.)
Due to the DISH Network Satellite Dish Antenna NOT being visible to the street, the HOA CANNOT stop us from installing the Satellite Dish there. HOWEVER; this
location IS NOT conducive to a roof mounted OTA Antenna. A roof mounted OTA Antenna WOULD need to be mounted either at the East side of the home, or the
West side of the home. The East side of the home would be the garage, and would ONLY be one story high - MAYBE 25'-30', BUT is blocked by neighbors' trees AND
the surrounding, aforementioned, hills. Therefore, the ONLY productive place to install an outdoor OTA Antenna would be the West side of the home, on the second
story roof, about 40' above ground, BUT the neighbor to our West has HUGE Redwoods that would block the Westward view. AND, again, the surrounding hills. Plus,
again, the limitations of our HOA that prevent us from having an outdoor OTA Antenna VISIBLE by the street; which the East wall and West wall WOULD be.

So, as I'm finding out, the Indoor, Amplified, OTA Antenna is NOT powerful enough to pick up ALL the available OTA TV Broadcasts in my area. As mentioned in my
last Post, I'm going to have to contact DISH Network to see if they can add 68.2 and/or 68.4 to my DISH Network's Locals' lineup. THIS MAY be doable as they
already provide us 68.00 - KTLN, Heroes and Icons, (H&I), as a Local Channel. Outside of my area of CA, I'm told that Heroes and Icons, (H&I), via DISH Network is
Channel 293. (My brother, in IL, receives Channel 293 - H&I via DISH Network.) I WAS receiving Channel 247 - MeTV, (National MeTV), via DISH; UNTIL Weigel
Broadcasting CEASED doing business with DISH in December! (My brother WAS receiving, (locally), MeTV on Channel 20, (the IL Local Version of the Nationwide
Channel via DISH Network), UNTIL the contract dispute with Weigel started in December, and THEN started immediately receiving Local Channel 23 - MeTV via
DISH Network.)

I hope these details help explain my situation, and my, now, ONLY hope is to contact DISH and see if they can 'Flip a switch' and turn on KTLN - 68.2 and/or 68.4,
MeTV and/or MeTV+ via Local Channel prospects over the DISH Network's Satellite Antenna.

[EDIT:] Or, is 'rabbitears.info' assuming I'm going to use an external, roof mounted OTA Antenna?????

I think all the various " find my TV station" websites assume an outdoor antenna with an unobstructed straight line view of the transmitter at 20 feet or higher off the ground.

Like Zoom says if you can get the amplified antenna near/in a window or on a inside wall pointing to the transmitter you have much better chance to receive the signal.

The drawback is running a extra length of coax between the receiver and antenna, which is not always possible.

I was in that situation when the switchover to digital kicked in and could only get three main stations of which two were only Spanish broadcast.

Where I'm at now I am lucky enough to be closer to the majority of transmitters and live almost at the top of a hillly region of the DFW metrplex. One of my TV's gets almost all local stations with just a pair of rabbit ears hanging on a wall pointing towards the transmitters.

3:22 PM - PDT

The Digital OTA Antenna that I have purchased DOES have an amplifier. I got MORE channels through it putting the amplifier on low rather than on high.
I've also moved the antenna as close as I can to the outside wall. NO windows exist in the Attic/Office, which is just 'reclaimed' space following dad's
remodeling of the home back in 95/96. The Attic/Office IS at least 20' off the ground, above the garage.... HOWEVER; being INDOORS with walls,
electrical, and various metal bits in the area ALL reduce reception....

Time Lord thanks for the update on your adventures in trying to get ME-TV via OTA reception.

Yea, HOA's are a real P.I.T.A.

At least you can get some station via the indoor antenna.

I forgot to provide you a link to another great Digital TV reception / transmitter locator website Rabbit Ears Info.

It provides a tool that lets you put in your street address or GPS coordinates along with a few other tweakable parameters and it will plot a circular radar type graph with your location in the middle and color coded lines based on estimated signal strength radiating toward the transmitter sites https://www.rabbitears.info/searchmap.php .

[@DrWhoFan:]

My area of Danville, in Shadow Hills HOA Development, shows I 'SHOULD' get KTLN - MeTV!!!

SO, while I won't return the existing Digital OTA Antenna, I WILL save up for the RCA OTA Antenna after all!!!!! It just MIGHT make the difference. ;-)

[Digital Antenna Update:]

OK - Here we go! ;-)

I received the DISH OTA Adapter EARLY!!! :-O :-D It was scheduled to arrive by the 17th, but came on Friday, the 10th. :-)

The DISH OTA Adapter easily plugged into the USB 2.0 Port on the back of the Hopper3. I then added a USB to Wall Power
Adapter to the USB Connector on the Digital OTA Antenna, and plugged that into the APC SurgeArrest Pro-8 strip. Then
connected the RG-6 COAX Cable from the Digital OTA Antenna to the DISH OTA Adapter at the COAX Port on the DISH
OTA Adapter.

I immediately received a Popup Prompt from the Hopper3, recognizing the DISH OTA Adapter and the new Digital Antenna.
I told the Hopper3 to Scan for signals.... OK - I didn't get what I wanted; STILL NO MeTV.... :'-( BUT, I did pick up 18 Channels
off the OTA Antenna! Some were duplicate channels in Spanish which DISH already provided us in our Local Channel Lineup,
and some were duplicates of other local channels. I eliminated all duplicates, and found 6-8 Channels that we were NOT
originally picking up. One of which is 'Decades'. Through the 'Decades' Channel, I now can watch old reruns of the Odd
Couple with Jack Klugman and Tony Randall. :-)

I had a feeling that DrWhoFan would be right, (along with my suspicions), that our 'HILLY' area surrounding us would be
a real detriment to my endeavors. AND, as unfortunate as this is, DrWhoFan was right! So, NO MeTV via OTA for me.
This same 'HILLY' issue is also preventing me from gaining more than the 18 Channels that the limited Indoor Antenna
is picking up currently. With all this knowledge, I think it unwise to return the existing Digital OTA Antenna for the
RCA Indoor Digital Antenna, as it MOST LIKELY WON'T make a difference. ONLY a TALL Outdoor Antenna will make
a real difference, BUT dad WILL NOT want to put up an Outdoor Antenna on the house, nor in the back yard. Further,
we live in a STRICT HOA area that restricts such Outdoor Antennae in our neighborhood of 200+ Homes in the HOA.
So, as proof of concept DOES work with this existing Indoor Digital OTA Antenna, I can't justify returning the thing, as
it DOES work, as specified by the seller, AND the seller is NOT responsible for me being in a HILLY area. Therefore, I'm
keeping the DISH OTA Adapter, and the Digital Indoor OTA Antenna, and keeping both connected to the Hopper3.

HOWEVER; since DISH Network DOES provide us, (in our Local Channel Package), KTLN 68.00 - Heroes & Icons,
(H&I), I plan to contact DISH directly to see IF they can just 'Flip A Switch' and provide us with the KTLN Sub-channels
of KTLN 68.2 for MeTV and/or 68.4 for MeTV+. (Both in HD.) I will keep you all updated as to my potential progress....

OH!!! AND, the picture quality of the Digital OTA Antenna with the 6-8 Channels that I've added to our Lineup ARE
in HD 1080 format, and are just as clear as the DISH Network signals picked up on our DISH Satellite Antenna. :-)

Thanks to DrWhoFan, and the Admiral for the Links. I've learned a lot from both of you.
I agree that the antenna I've chosen WILL NOT pick up "480 Miles" in area signal; but,
it 'SHOULD' pick up AT LEAST 27.6 Miles, which is where the Novato KAXT/KTLN
transmitter is, on Mt. Allison.

Again, if the antenna I've chosen DOES NOT work, I'll be exchanging it for the RCA
Indoor Antenna from Antenna Man, the Link that Admiral provided.

NOTE: The Mt. Allison transmission tower broadcasts into SF, as well as into the East
Bay area.

OK, I did a search on KTLN 68.2.... I find it is being broadcast from Palo Alto, BUT I also find that there MAY be
a repeater in Novato, just North of me, with a 1000 KW transmitter/tower.... The signal being broadcast is listed
as UHF, which is what the antenna that I've bought picks up best. Apparently, (for future use), MOST Digital Antennas
are NOT coming with BOTH UHF AND VHF receiver capabilities.

Through Admiral's suggestion of Antenna Man, I find that in his Amazon Store, he has an RCA Amplified UHF/VHF
Indoor Antenna, a little cheaper than what I've already purchased.... IF the one I got DOES NOT get me MeTV,
I will return it for the RCA UHF/VHF Model.

Also, apparently, KTLN 'SHARES' Digital 22 with KAXT, so IF KTLN 68.2 is NOT available to me in my area, MOST
LIKELY the KAXT Digital 22 will be, and I will still get the UHF MeTV Channel off KAXT's broadcasting....

I got all this here: Is KTLN 68.2 UHF or VHF in the SF East Bay Area?

So, I may be OK, after all.

TL

[EDIT:]

AND, Palo Alto is QUITE far South of me, think Stanford University....
My surrounding hills MAY be a real obstacle in getting the true 68.2 from Palo Alto
directly. So, the KAXT Digital 22, (MOST LIKELY from the Novato transmitter), WILL
be able to come through.

480+ Miles Range TV Antenna

Lol FAKE INFO. No antenna can have 480 mile reception range, especially ones that size.

A long enough piece of wire will work as an antenna. There's NO DIFFERENCE between analog & digital other than the encoding/ decoding.

3:40 PM - PST

[@DrWhoFan]

Thanks for that! :-) Believe it or not, I even found one that's claiming 500+ Mi Range. :-O I just got through looking at the Site you mentioned and the Antennas.
Amazon DOESN'T seem to carry the one's I want from your suggestions, and the one that they DID have was listed at $80+, TOO much for my blood at this time.

I'll stick with the one I found, for now, and try it out. Being an Amazon purchase, IF it DOESN'T pull in KTLN 68.2, then I'll return the Antenna AND the DISH OTA Adapter.

The DISH OTA Adapter is a small box with COAX on one end and USB, (2.0 probably), on the other. So, you plug the USB end into the Hopper3's rear USB 2.0 Port, and
the Digital Antenna of choice via COAX into the COAX Port of the DISH OTA Adapter. THEN, while the Antenna will be pulling in 'ALL IT CAN', via the OTA Adapter,
you 'Add' the channels from the 'Antenna List' in the Hopper3, one at a time. So, the Hopper3 ONLY 'Adds' the channels you choose. Once chosen and programmed
into the Hopper3, ALL STBs, (4 Wireless Joeys in my case), will show those OTA Channels that were programmed into the Hopper3.

The Antenna I've selected has USB Power, (will go to a 'Wart' and plug in to my APC SurgeArrest8 strip), and the COAX that will connect to the DISH OTA Adapter.

IF I CAN get KTLN 68.2, I'll also program in CH 3 and 4 for additional Local Channels. 3 is my Local NBC that DISH DOES NOT provide, instead giving us a 'National'
NBC Channel at CH 11 on the Hopper3. CH 4 is KRON TV. I'd like to 'restore' these to our Lineup.

Once the OTA Channels are successfully programmed into the Hopper3, you CAN even Record those Channels to the Hopper3 DVR Internal Drive. THEN, IF you
want to make a permanent save, move the Recorded shows to an External Drive. (Which I have already connected up on the Hopper3's rear USB 3.0 Port, via
a Powered USB Hub.)

I've been planning the OTA route, as we are NOW 4-Months WITHOUT MeTV! I'm missing LOTS of Svengoolie episodes and movies. :'-(
